Awesome as expected. Surprised we didn't get to see something sooner, that looks and feels like a final trailer, almost a bit too long imho.

I love Ridley and I loved Gladiator and I usually love epic period films, but this looks really boring to me. Maybe I'm just tired of all the movies about knights and stuff. I passed on both the period epics this year as well - Alexander and that other one, whatever it was.

I think a period epic coming from the director of Gladiator and Black Hawk Down should be better than one coming from the director of Natural Born Killers or one coming from the director of Air Force One. I am very excited about this flick.

...you mean that director who did PLATOON, Born on the 4th of July or Wall Street? Or that guy who directed Das Boot? I don't think the director of GI Jane and Hannibal can do it.

Myself ... I'm ALWAYS looking forward to new movies from my favorite directors. So I'll definately be seeing this.

As much as Platoon, Born on the 4th of July, and Wall Street may be good movies, none of them are "period epics," are they? I purposefully didn't use Das Boot as an example for Wolfang Petersen because, once again, while it's a great film, it's also not a period epic. (And one can argue that Petersen's movies have been getting steadily worse since then.) Please don't misconstrue my earlier post as attacks against Petersen and Stone, because I like them both as directors--but it should be obvious that not every director is suited for every type of movie.

It looks pretty good, but some of it does seem similar to Gladiator.

I'm hoping it's much better and turns out to be the fantastic epic everyone thinks Gladiator is. I miss the understated Ridley Scott of Alien and Blade Runner. As for this trailer, Jesus does this set a record for the most jump-cuts or something? What exactly is the point of showing every single locale in what will no doubt be a long-ass three hour flick? They could barely be bothered to show the actors' names long enough to be able to read them

Although like many, I am weary of massive CGI armies battling other massive CGI armies. One viewing of Troy will pretty much sour you on the prospect.

Don't believe me? Then I must break you.

Well, considering the only one of those Oliver Stone films I've ever liked was Wall Street, that doesn't do much to prove the point. Stone is overrated.

Hehe. Yea. I was just pointing out that he was pointing out the negatives of two, and the positives of one. So I flipped it around for him. I don't think Stone is wonderful either (with the exception of Platoon). It's like saying "I don't think the director of Gangs of New York can pull of such and such".

This movie really came in under the radar and I really didn't know about it until I saw this trailer a few nights back. I was surprised as I typically always follow new stuff from Ridley Scott. Looks good, but having Bloom in it really is giving me doubts.
Anyone know when this is supposed to hit theaters?

Also, I have never heard of the person doing the music or the script before now, so I hope they do a decent job, especially the composer. If an epic has a lackluster music score, then it really cannot be epic IMO.

Ah, Ridley's back to doing his "epics" I for one love when he gets behind the camera on these types of films, I'll be seeing this one
