What movie is this?

OK, a review link on the main page ("Cloak and Dagger") made me think of a film i've seen long time go in Europe, and unfortunately I didn't catch it from the beginning, so I don't know the name.

The premise is close to "Wargames", but it's not it. I'd guess they were made around the same time (early 80s).

Basically, you have a nerdy kid (called Gregory) who strikes a friendship with an AI/talking computer. At some point, the computer helps a guy (a teacher of Gregory's) steal some money and deposit it into his account, but later kills the greedy dude. Towards the end of the movie, the computer is supposedly destroyed, but Gregory is greeted one day by the electronic voice at some terminal (the computer keeps saluting him with "Hello, Gregory").

Can anyone think of the name for this movie?

The bank transfer thing sounds like Sneakers. Hmm I will google some...

Perhaps Midas Valley or some such, I searched IMDB for all Male characters with the name Gregory, then parsed by things in the 80s, and judging by the movie names, I didn't see anything that looked like it might be that movie. Odd.

It's not sneakers or spacecamp or D.a.r.y.l. or Mac and me or Meatballs 2. I did the same sort of searches in IMDB and came up empty as well.

I thought this movie was pretty good, until I just watched the trailer again.
