I totally understand. In the summertime you seem to get them spread out at roughly a movie per week.

During the holidays it seems you get a summers worth of movies all crammed in to roughly one and a half months, with all of the good ones coming out in the last two weeks of that month! Why they dump so many at once during the holidays is beyond me, as the studios seem to respect each other's space duirng the summer.

I totally know how you feel, I just counted around 15 titles I still want to see from 2004. Including most of the films you listed.

yeah, it's great. i also noticed the movie overload over here, after a drought of good movies for awhile. all we got here is Alexander, which I refuse to watch.

(also, I think next year is also going to be a great year for movies.)

Hmm... I thought we were still in a drought since none of these movies interest me at all. I haven't been to the theater in quite some time with the exception of The Machinist.

Agreed. The November and December months pack quite the 1-2 punch.

My problem is actually having the movies to play near me due to their limited release schedule.

These are on my list to see in order of desire (but haven't opened yet, or opened near me):

Million Dollar Baby
The Aviator
Bad Education
Phantom of the Opera
The Life Aquatic (my enthusiasm has subsided after getting 2 thumbs down from R&E)

dont worry, saw closer and loved it. easily one of the best films of the year. and as for you patman, dont let them discourage you. TLA is hilarious if you like anderson's other work.

i gotta add the assasination of richard nixon to the list as well. Sean penn looks amazing in that.

now depending on where you live:
  • Bad Education
  • The Chorus
  • Million Dollar Baby
  • Hotel Rwanda

dont see wide release until January. (I saw Bad Education in New York City over the Thanksgiving weekend since DC won't get this until the second week of January due to shitty Landmark theatre Washington DC scheduling)

Personally, I'm amazed that people actually spend their money to see a film in a theatre, considering 99% of it is pure garbage. Honestly, is there anything worth paying $10 to see once in a theatre? I'm just glad I was a student in Boston at a time when you could see 2 classics or any number of foreign films (before foreign films started trying to imitate Hollyweed) for $3.

Fortunately I'm going to New York City next week and will be spending a few days there, so I'm planning on seeing several of the limited release films. Particularly "Million Dollar Baby," "Hotel Rwanda," and "The Sea Inside." Other films I'll definitely be seeing in the next few weeks: "Bad Education," "Vera Drake," "Closer," "The Life Aquatic" "A Very Long Engagement," "The Aviator," "Finding Neverland," "A Series of Unfortunate Events" (with my nephew,) and "The Phantom of the Opera."

Over the summer I saw half a dozen movies - in the next two weeks I'll probably be watching twice that many.

The good thing is that many of these films will linger around the theaters while the only new movies studios will release in January and February is the garbage they were afraid to release any other time (movies most of you probably won't want to see).

    I've seen so far:

    Closer
    The Aviator
    Ocean's Twelve
    Sideways

    Want to see:
    Finding Neverland
    Meet the Fockers
    Kinsey
    A Very Long Engagement
