Also mentioned that it's rumored to be the most expensive game development ever, so maybe it will turn out ok, but I doubt it. The EA LOTR games are the only decent movie games in recent years.

Well, I thought the recent Bond game wasn't bad, even if it's not a direct movie to game, it does feature actors and shit (and of course, Goldeneye is the gold standard of movie to video games).
The previously mentioned Riddick though, is also a standout.

Well, the graphics are surely very nice. If Al Pacino was to lend his voice to a game, I'd prefer it'd be this one over the Scarface one. Scarface looks like a crappy GTA knockoff.
I can't tell what this game intends to be exactly, but at least it's got solid production values and seems to be referecning the right people.

BTW, the graphics shown in the EGM article aren't "real" graphics. They're running on a high end computer trying to emulate what the game will look like on the X-box 2. So it's up in the air of the X-box 2 version will look that good, and the PS2 and X-box 1 versions will not look nearly that good.

Average is a very subjective term. Common usage of the word will apply to many things.

Check this out, from the latest GameInformer. Please note that only the three smaller pictures on the bottom of the first scan is screenshots from THIS generation. The others are a look at what it may look like on the next-gen consoles, but they still give you an idea about what this game will be like.

While it's impossible to say for sure whether they'll reach that quality, it's not entirely out of the question. I could see next gen systems pushing out graphics that good. It's just a question of horsepower really.

"The game will be coming out this Christmas for Playstation 2, Xbox, and Xbox 2 (or "Xenon," if you dig code names). In fact, all the screens in this feature are from what's called a "gameplay target demo" of the Xbox 2 version - essentially a prerendered video of the game's interactive sequences created to meet the Xbox 2's technical specifications. Long story short: The Godfather should look like this on Xbox 2."
I should add, the pictures in the article linked above are the same as the photos in the EGM article, though it has quite a few more also.
