A Very Long Engagament
Couldn't find a thread on this. I went and saw this yesterday mainly because of Audrey Tautou, who I think is absolutely beautiful, and it has the same director as Amelie which I enjoyed.
The sense of humor is definitely the same as Amelie, the quirky light hearted, sometimes just silly humor. At times it works and at times it doesn't, and sometimes it feels out of place with the tragic story of the movie. The movie definitely tore me in different directions, at one point it would focus on the tragedies of war, the next light-hearted romance and humor.
Visually I thought the movie was stunning, there were a few scenes that were just breathtaking IMO.
I had trouble keeping up with names, I can never follow names in movies ( I am terrible with names in real life), I will have to see it again as I am sure I missed some things.
Overall I enjoyed the movie, and found it very compelling, I definitely reccomend it.
