Wow, I can't wait to not watch this movie. Sandlot 2 is starting to sound like a good idea.
|
Should be just as shitty as the first one!!!
|
I don't think anyone wants to see Sharon Stone's goods anymore.
|
There was enough Vajna in the first film for two movies.

Oh goody. Sharon Stone past her prime in a sequel that is about ten years past its time to be even a contender for a hit, not to mention a total hack of a director at the helm.
I will say right now that I will most likely file this away with Blues Brothers 2000, Jaws 2 thru 4, and Aliens 3 & 4 as sequels that "never happened" as far as I'm concerned. |

Kinda surprised this is coming. I have no idea why the original was a hit. Guess it was one of those 80s things I'll never be able to fathom.
|
I heard the reason it took so long to get the green light is because the ice pick was demanding all kinds of stupid <strike>shit</strike> perks in its contract.

But anyway...like just about everyone else, I predict the sequel will probably blow pretty hard. I seriously doubt the male lead will be older than Sharon this time, and he'll probably be an unknown, cast mainly for his looks and not his talent (hopefully i'm wrong). As for Sharon, she hasn't gotten flabby or overly-wrinkled in her 40s, but she just isn't as sexy or appealing as she was 10 or so years ago. Her spiky haircuts and abrasive personality in interviews may have something to do with it. Sometimes she comes across as intelligent and funny...other times she's just arrogant and annoying. But I've always thought she was a good actress, and really liked her character in the original, so if the script's decent I think she can make it work. I'll probably give this one a rent whenever it comes out....it could end up a guilty pleasure. |
last i heard, Hong Kong actor Simon Yam was attached to this sequel.
they've been planning the Basic Instinct sequel for years. |
The only way to get me to see it would be Sharon Stone in her 40's do lesbian scenes with a actress in her 20's like say Kristen Dunst.

I remember years back, David Cronenberg was seriously close to directing a Basic Instinct 2. It was brought up again in some interview a few years back, and he expressed a bit of regret for not actualy doing it, claiming the script was of high quality, much more intelligent then the original.

Put me in the camp that enjoyed the first film. I thought it was great noir. Unfortunately, my dislike for Sharon Stone as she has gone slightly mad over the last several years will probably prevent me from seeing the film in theaters (unless it gets good word of mouth). I just have a feeling its going to be plotless with raunchy sex scenes and then a Shyamalan twist at the end to try and make the movie respectable. The twist at the end of the first film was just one piece of a good film.
|
You had me at raunchy :D

All i saw in that post.
Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Kristen Dunst. |
I thought Stone looked very good in Cold Creek Manor, yes older, but
still a nice older, plus a good actress, they should of done the sequel a long time ago, but not everything is about youth, we all gotta grow old. |
If Cronenberg directed this years ago. I would have really been interested in checking it out.
But today? Not interested, since it seems way past it's prime. Especially with a questionable director at the helm, and who knows what the script is like? Are they using the one originally thought of years ago(which we stll don't know what it contained) or have they thought of something different? The original on the other hand is a great fun adult thriller. Well made, amusing, erotic, noirish fun. |
I still remember that opening night theater experience for this one. A star was born in Stone, the audience was riveted once she flashed the bush, and there was a great laugh at the line when Douglas calls Roxy "Rocky".
|
Sharon Stone is an actress?
I thought she just presented awards at Hollywood ceremonies. |
Apparently Bill Murray will have a small role in Basic Instinct 2:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0430912/ Also... Sharon Stone told Access Hollywood that her character, Catherine Tramell, will have a bisexual relationship in the sequel Basic Instinct 2: Risk Addiction. "There is lesbian love," Stone said, "We're testing for her now." Stone said she was surprised at the attention her interrogation scene in the original 1992 Basic Instinct movie received. "People still want to see some more of that," she said with a laugh. When asked if that was the plan for the sequel, she smiled and replied, "You can spend your $12 and go find out for yourself." In the follow-up slated for release in 2006, Catherine relocates from San Francisco to London and quickly finds herself on the wrong side of the law. David Morrissey plays a criminal psychologist assigned the task of evaluating her by Scotland Yard. She may finally have met her match in the shrink. http://www.comingsoon.net/news/topnews.php?id=8519 |
Hard to say how this one will turn out...Michael Caton-Jones has directed some great films (Doc Hollywood) and some real clunkers (The Jackal). But I think the real appeal of the first Basic Instinct was Michael Douglas...unless Murray has a huge part, I don't think Stone can carry a film on her own. She's just not that good of an actress.

Found a trailer for Basic Instinct 2. Looks like a late night Skinemax flick. I'm assuming this was a European trailer because of the nudity. Anyways, check it out:

This isn't a trailer, it looks like pirated footage made into something that looks like a trailer.
|
That trailer/footage made the movie look awful. Like Showgirls awful. I'm not really suprised as Basic Instinct didn't have a lot going for it, it wasn't terrible but that's about all I can say about that.
|
schwiiiiiiing! i'm definately gonna see this!

That looked like a straight to video skin flick. Stone still looks okay, but she ain't what she once was, and it shows in that video, even if it might be the grainy footage doing her the injustice. Unless they release this movie with the NC-17 or unrated and just say: "Hey, it ain't nothing but a skin flick," then I will skip it. It looks like low brow porn, they might as well push it as such.
|
I'm still surprised that Michael Caton-Jones (This Boy's Life, Rob Roy) is directing this because it does have that straight-to-video skin flick vibe.
|
I predict an unrated DVD released before June. Sony will have this on DVD within 10 weeks (maybe even less if it tanks) after it's theatrical release.

I thought that footage was sucky regarding to being a good movie but awesome when it came to the soft-core porn. I can't believe Sharon Stone is showing all that. I was never a fan of hers but I just may have to see this for the arousal factor.
|
trailer seems messed up now
|
Worked for me. Sheesh, talk about trailers showing all the good parts :D I'd have agree that it didn't look much like a trailer.
