The Corpse Bride - Tim Burton's other new movie

I was reading about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and came upon this film, which I had no idea was even in production. The Corpse Bride, the new stop animation movie by Tim Burton (he's co directing) with Johnny Depp voicing the lead.

Well, what can I say, I know close to nothing about it but I can't wait for this. Nightmare Before Christmas is just one of my favorite aniamted flicks, so another Tim Burton stop motion film is something I'd love to see. Sure, henry Selick directed Nightmare, but it was very much a Burton enterprise, and this film also still has the same writer as that film Caronline Thompson.

Anyway, here's some info on the flick. i haven't seen this discussed on here (I searched) but heck now I can't wait for it. Also hoping for a more old school type Elfman score, more thematic then the underscore he seems to do these days. Who knows. But two Burton flicks in one year...I can't argue with that.

Here's a picture of the bride.

Anyway, anybody have any other new information on this movie? It's slated for an October 05 release.

Oh man, I'm psyched. This is way more exciting than Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

I love The Nightmare Before Christmas, so, I'm excited for this one quite a bit. I love Depp and Burton together, and I'm also quite excited about Charlie and Chocolate Factory.

Looks interesting, and the characters on the posters definitely have Burton's distinct style in their design.

Exactly. I've been in love w/Nightmare Before Christmas ever since my uncle took me when it was theatrically released (10? years ago), so I'm stoked for this. Hopefully, it will have the magic of NBC or Vincent.

Absolutely, that film is just great. And after PoTA (which I thought was awful) and Big Fish (which was quite good, but not as Burton as I was used to) I'm excited to see something that fully delves into his style.

I wonder if Henry Selick is doing anything with this film at all. It'll be interesting to see, cause Burton opted out of directing nightmare, so I wonder what he'll bring to the table as director.

There's a pic of the protagonist, voiced by Johnny Depp.

Do I even have to address how excited I am for this and how much I'm looking forward to this?

Very cool. This makes me even more happy than a Wonka remake.

With the exception of Edward Scissorhands in 90, his directing career took a big dumpage as far as I'm concerned starting with Batman in 89. I've been waiting 15 years for him to come back.

That pic looks great. I love it, this and Chocolate Factory look like Burton doing movies that are more...well, Burton. Hated POTA, Big Fish was pretty decent but I prefer him doing oddball characters.

Nonetheless, love the look. I can't wait, perhaps one of my most anticipated of the year.

I liked Big Fish a lot. It's nice to see Burton getting back in touch with his style.

He's always been in touch with his style. Planet of the apes may have sucked, but it had burton written all over it. The story was just lacking. Big Fish also had his style. Infact you can always tell what a burton movie is by having it on for 3 minutes. Some just aren't very good stories to tell.

Well, of course his stamp is on each of those films. PoTA sucked, Big Fish was solid, but I suppose the difference is that in those films the primary characters were not really "Burton" characters. But PoTA starred a bland, heroic normal type of lead guy. I actually enjoyed parts of PoTA, basically the early parts with just the apes. But when those humans spoke...phew, terrible. That's besides the terrible script. And Big Fish was definately a step into more realistic dramatic territory. Now, it was a solid film, but I'm happy to see a couple films that look to be completely living in the Burton world. I love what he does with the more oddball types of characters and with the corpse bride the macabre melancholy world Burton does so well. Well, I'm hoping at least.
