with many movies you COULD miss the 1st 5 minutes and really not miss much...maybe credits or something really not that important happens.
any movies where its absolutely CRUCIAL to be there when it starts?
frankly i always try and make it to the movies early anyways...not for this reason but so i get good seats. i refuse to sit up front...ever. i will just leave if those are the only seats left
anyways, back to my question...which movies would you guys list?

Swordfish. If you miss the first 5 minutes, well, you missed the only thing worth watching, ie a cool explosion.
On a more serious note, a lot of thrillers fall into this category. If you missed the first five minutes of sixth sense, the ending would be massively weird since you'd have no idea about would happend to Brucie in the beginning.

IRREVERSIBLE
Cause you'd miss the end of the movie! Hahahahahahahahaha!
also
FACE/OFF
Cause the opening scene sets up the whole personal grudge between the good guy and bad guy

Ahhh! I have another....
DUNE
Both the Theatrical version and especially the extended(4 + hours) TV version that omits the Irulan(Virginia Madsen) intro and puts back the Frank Herbert narration with the artwork.

Yep. You would miss the back story and be totally lost (if you haven't read the book, of course)

All this despite the fact that we live in New Zealand, completely surounded by the hype at the time.
