Unfortunately, I can't give high praise to this horror movie. I was expecting an on par horror to the Ring and it didn't happen.

There were only 2 really scary and freaky moments that occurred in the Grudge. The first one when the detective watched the video of the dark lady approaching in the hallway and then went up to the camera and popped her eyes. The second one when the first nurse was walking down the steps and then turned around showing her tongue without her jaw.

IMO, the Ring is still the scariest movie ever made in the last 2 years.

For a horror movie to be good in my books.. if you're hesitant in watching it again because of fear than it is a good horror movie. I own the Ring on DVD and I'm always hesitant on trying to pop it in the player and watch it again but I will soon on Halloween day.

Just saw this movie

was hard to get into but after the first 30 mins, definitely had some decent scares. What is it was female Japanese horror faces, they are just so scary !

The movie just went over $100 million domestic at the boxoffice. I would never had thought it do this well.

i thought the scene when the guys sister and it being in her bed. you knew it was coming but it still scared the crap out of me. Anyways i thought this was alot scarier then the Ring. In the Ring the mood is creepy but the movie is really never scary. The grudge even if they are cheap scares they do scare you.
4/5

i honestly thought the movie was scarier at home, since the theater i saw it at didn't have that great of a sound system, and people were laughing at some of the violent scenes (the opening scene for instance) and they ruined it the bastards

I absolutely love the original (all 4 of them) and I hated the remake. The scares were not done well at all, the pace of the film felt off, and they take some of the best parts of the other films and completely take them out of context (the hanging and bumping against the wall). I was really disappointed with this film. I went into it thinking it would be nearly as good as the originals since it had Shimizu directing. I am hoping he got this all out of his system and can now make a good film again with Ju-on 3.

This movie was, well, kind of boring. it ended and I was honestly wondering if that was really all there was. It was not scary at all...a few creepy moments but that's it. Hardly a coherant plot to speak of, and no real point to it in the end. Just not a good film.
