If it's rated R it will be scary.

Right. Your theory is proven correct with such movies as Species 2, Jason X, and The Astronaut's Wife.

Very creepy, that scissors cutting paper sound is really disturbing.

There's a prequel in Japan, called Ring 0. It's the life of Sadako through the events that lead to her death. If the Japanese Ring 2 is only half good, Ring 0 is utterly unwatchable.

But it's not a Japanese word. "Ringu" is the Japanese pronounciation of an English word, so hearing native English speakers pronounce it that way is just bizarre.

What in the world was that? I got no insight as to what was going on in the movie from that "trailer."

And this is bad? It's nice to see a trailer that doesn't give stuff away. And you know it's the sequel to The Ring, so if you liked The Ring, you'll probably go see it.

It's a teaser...lets people know the movie is coming out and gives you just enough to get you interested months in advance.

Insight to the movies...thats what the movie is for. if the trailer gave me insight into the movie, then why watch the movie?

Just watched it...

it's tremendously sad when a teaser trailer has more tension, suspense and scares than the average full-length horror film today...

FWIW, I thought the first one was way overrated and got no scares out of it whatsoever aside from some guy in my audience deciding to scream at the top of his lungs when there was a quiet scene with nothing happening.
I remember reading all of the positive reviews and going on the first night thinking I would see something exceptional, I was disappointed. I am hoping the second one is different, but won't get my hopes up too high.
