Clerks 2 has been on a downslide for the last couple of hours. Right now it's dropped 4.50 in about three hours and doesn't show signs of slowing yet. Might be worth shorting for a bit.

This is just like the tech bubble crash. Long a few long term blue chips and short everything else in the short term.

What a bunch of crap we've seen these past few months.

My suggestion for smaller ports(under 6 million).

Do not carry stocks thru reset(12:45 AM EST) unless they have recent news(last few hours) that will drive them up in price.

Holding stocks is not a good idea. I tend to sell stocks early once I feel the price is not moving much. I often lose out on money this way. However I rarely lose money when stocks turn back the other direction because I no longer own the stock.

Of course this requires you to micromanage the port.

My goal is always to gain some money every day. Right now my new port owns one stock. nothing appealed to me so I am holding only one stock.

My main port has most of the money not invested for the same reasons. I have $32 million in nothing since I just do not see anything I like.

Playing openers can earn you a ton. It can also lose you a ton. I tend to stay away since I am not good at that part of the game. I do play the moves of the opening stocks and play post adjust when I think money is to be made.

Wow, excellent day. Up $325k so far. Nice to see Sky Captain bounce back a little bit, Clerks 2 sink and The Forgotten keep going up. One more day like this and I'll hit $5mil.

What happens at reset that would cause you to lose money? What is reset even? I have never been playing this game at that hour to see what happens.

I always assumed nothing happens. Don't they just change all the changes to zero?

You are right they reset the changes to zero. which makes seeing moves on the first few stocks easier. so the first few that move are jumped on since people assume the move will continue.

so if the stock you are holding happens to drop .13 people will short it assuming it will drop more. This of course causes it to drop more. The biggest movers are due to reset trading and news.

By holding a stock thru reset you are taking a chance that it wil go down a bit or up a bit right after reset and have the lemmings jump on the move to make the losses worse.

Also Variety and The Hollywood Reporter update their websites right around that time. So news might hurt you also.

Too risky for small ports IMO.

Because of my graveyard hours, I don't have a chance to play the reset game, but I've found that the old addage "What goes up, must come down" works about 9 of 10 times. Any huge spike in an unexplicible stock will eventually make you money on the downswing.

Wow, almost two days without a post in this thread.

Looks like I might manage to break $5mil tomorrow. I bought 50k shares of Forgotten at $32, and from the looks of Friday's numbers, I'm going to make a bundle off of the adjust tomorrow. It's scary to think that I had thoughts of selling it before it was halted...

Great move.

I almost went long on this one until I saw the reviews. Then I stayed away.

Everytime I think a stock is undervalued and hold it over the opening I get killed... so I sell my stock in Forgotten on Friday for a net gain of $29k. Hoorah for me

Two weeks in a row I have been on the wrong side of a 20+ adjust. I am going to have to be more selective in openers I hold I think.

Thoughts on the big new releases?

I think SHRKS is a short and am not too sure on LAD49. If I had to pick I would say long based on the cast.

Right now, SHRKS needs to open better than $51M. For a non-summer/non-holiday opening, I don't think it'll make that either.

Yeah, definitely agree with the comments on Shark Tale. Absolutely no way it's going to get anywhere close to $50 million, as I've seen very little buzz and a nearly total absence of ads on television. An easy stock to short.

From Variety:

As we found out with 'Shrek' and Sony found out with 'Spider-Man,' you can go wide with movies that play well to families," Tharp said.

He refused to estimate an opening but industry expectations are in the mid- to high 40s.

Viane conceded the weekend crown to "Shark Tale," which should play broadly enough to take a chunk out of the older aud targeted by the PG-13 "Ladder 49." Nonetheless, pic is expected to debut strongly at No. 2, with a take about half that of "Shark Tale."

http://www.variety.com/article/VR111...goryid=13&cs=1

So if these industry sources are right it will adjust down to around 137 or lower(using $49 million as the high number)

With LAD49 adjusting up to $68 if it hits the high number of $24.5million.

Of course the low estimates are not as kind.

You need a subscription to read the whole article which includes the part i quoted.

Hopefully you are right on Shark Tale as I just shorted 46,000 shares before looking at this thread. It needs to make about 52 mil which seems to me to be a sure bet that it won't, here's hoping :fingers crossed:.
