"Ray" starring Jamie Foxx
I saw a preview for this before "I, Robot" and it looks like its going to be huge. I remember at the end I saw Jamie Behind the piano playing "A Song for You" in a very intimate room with people. I expect this to be a MEGA hit!! It looks like he pulls of Charles' manerisms extremly well. I can't wait to see this. Anyone know the director?
Then after that preview we saw a preview for "Beyond the Sea" about the life and careeer or Bobby Darrin. Mark my words, this will be Spacey's biggest success yet.
How about a movie about Donny Hathaway already?

From Wanda on In Livin Color! to a possible (and probable) Oscar nod.... sweet. He is a solid actor and the preview for Ray looked great. I cant wait.

My impression (note: impression, not even an opinion) is that "Ray" is an Oscar bid for Jamie Foxx. What seems interesting is that the film was probably not intended to be a vehicle for the actor, but that his subsequent performance may have turned this product to gold and the marketers are deciding to push it like that.
Because my impression of the FILM is that it looks very polished, very respectful, and a bit dull. Not the story, but the film itself looks like a typical bio-pic. A dynamite performance can elevate it of course. And the music will undoubtedly by the reason I see it, but I don't expect anything special.
Note: these are impressions, not opinions on the film and certainly not criticisms.

There is no doubt in my mind that Ray will give Foxx an Oscar nom this year. Between his work here and in Collateral he deserves it if you ask me.
With Charles' death still looming above this will seriously give this film a good box office in take.
