I'll say it. Finding Nemo was good, but nothing spectacular. A pretty average story with great visuals. I'd even say the same thing about Monster's Inc. The story was a little too simplistic with not enough for the adults watching.
Both stories were very parent-orientated, speaking more to parents than to adults, or even children. The films were also a bit less pop-culture specific than the Toy Story films. That said, I still found plenty of humor in them, it was just humor that was more character driven rather than referencing the latest films. That's not to say that pop-culture gags didn't seep in, such as the Australian shark being named Bruce, Harryhausen's, etc.

Also, I really don't see the stories as being more simplistic than Pixar's previous films. I mean, Toy Story 2 had basically the same plot as Finding Nemo (rescuing an abducted character). However, both films were much less ensemble pieces than the earlier films were.

I can't wait for this. First off, it's different. Second off...Pixar plus Brad Bird? Pixar is probably the most consistently high quality producer of any type of movie, but definately in animation...and the Iron Giant was perhaps one of the best hand drawn features of this last decade. So yeah I'm very excited.

I'm also quite interested to see this as it is Pixar's first movie with all the main characters being human. i guess it's not that big a deal, but it's interesting to note and will make this a very unique experience from the otehr Pixar movies.

Trailer? I don't need no stinkin' trailer!

... as long as it's from Pixar, I'll see it without even knowing what it's about. Between their shorts and features, they're batting .1000 (IMO).

Sweet. Been looking forward to this more than any other Pixar film. Brad Bird deserves a huge hit after The Iron Giant was largely ignored and shit on by the studio. Too bad that one wasn't done at pixar

Are you looking forward to the Incredibles?

This is the new Pixar film coming out in Nov.

Craig T Nelson is cool but why was he hired as a lead voice in this movie?

Why didn't they get a bigger name?

BTW, Did Pixar sign with a studio since their contract with Disney expired?

Pixar is really good at picking people who match the characters they create, not just hiring a big-name voice to fill out the film superficially, like Fox does (Brad Pitt and Matt Damon in Sinbad and Titan A.E., respectively). Just because someone can act on film doesn't necessarily translate to voice acting. I trust Pixar enough to pick someone who can really act with their voice. I don't think you always need a big voice to help the film.

After seeing the footage at ComiCon I'm more excited about seeing this film. November 5th can't get here soon enough.
