Considering that films like Treasure Planet and Jimmy Neutron even get nominated make this category rather suspect to begin with. Fortunately, each year seems to bring more eligible films so hopefully the animation award becomes a little more legit.

and don't forget sponge bob....j/k

i think your right about jimmy Neutron....this category has been getting better because the movies have been getting better....

I can't believe no one has tossed in the hat for some anime in this thread....had to be a few good features out there to compete.

The only thing that really got a stateside release was Ghost in the Shell that I can think of, and the press around that is probably too small for it to make an impact. If Howl's Moving Castle had been released here, that for sure would've been a nominee. I suspect we'll see that on next years Oscar list.

The Korean animated movie Wonderful Days (or "Sky Blue" as it is known in the states) barely made the cut with a December 31st release on one screen in LA.

I thought The Incredibles was awesome, but I still think the animation in The Polar Express (especially in IMAX) is beyond jaw-dropping and even out does The Incredibles.

The Oscar is for Best Animated Feature, though, and not just for the quality of the animation.

Finally saw this on DVD. One of my favorite films! The story and dialogue were great. Not too serious, but serious enough. Loved Sam Jackson's character arguing with his wife at the end.

I agree with the kid at the end who yelled "That was totally wicked!!"

Hope there is a sequel, I really like these characters!

It is my joint favorite Pixar film along with Monsters inc that is not Toy Story related.
Favorite exchange:
"Everybody is special"
"Thats another way of saying nobody is"

Just release it on BD dammit!
