Ice Cube's gone soft on us: "Are We There Yet?"

Are We There Yet? stars Ice Cube, Nia Long and Jay Mohr. Here's a synopsis from Greg's Previews:

The fledgling romance between Nick, a playboy bachelor, and Suzanne, a divorced mother of two, is threatened by a particularly harrowing New Year's Eve. When Suzanne's work keeps her in New York City for the holiday, Nick offers to bring her kids to the city from Washington D.C. The kids, who have never liked any of the men their mom has dated, and are determined to turn the trip a nightmare for Nick.
It's coming out in January of '05 and its rated PG (Language and Rude Humor).

Looks like Ice Cube is going all Eddie Murphy on us... oh well.

But I do have to say the show looks like it could be funny.

Ice Cube is down with the PE
Now every single bitch wanna see me
Big Daddy is smooth word to muther
Let's check out a flick that exploits the color
Roamin' thru Hollywood late at night
Red and blue lights what a common sight
Pulled to the curb gettin' played like a sucker
Don't fight the power ... the mother fucker

Not quite Burn Hollywood Burn anymore.

Ice Cube has always been a really middle class black guy.

Great angle he played up. He's a smart cookie.

He also wrote all of Eazy-E's rhymes, as well as his own. He knows what he's doing.

He's nipping at Denzel's heels.

Well, in all fairness a lot of his original fans have grown up as well, and have families and kids now. Not to say he doesn't have young fans, but he's smart to diversify his portfolio. Besides, I hate rappers who refuse to let up their hard act even when doing a movie. I'm referring specifically to Busta Rhymes, who went on in interviews about how he wasn't about to get killed by Michael Myers (in Halloween 8) because he was too bad ass or something to that effect. Gimme a break.

Ice Cube already went soft. He played a pretty nice guy in Three Kings.
