I just saw both books in paper back at BORDERS earlier today. The probably sell for around 6 or 7 bucks. Underworld: Blood Enemy goes back and forth between ancient times and a few months before the events in the movie Underworld. The funny thing is it never gets into Selene's origin. It's mostly about Lucian, Sonja(Viktor's daughter), and the events leading to war. Both are written by the same guy so I'm hoping another book is on the way.

Thanks for the info. I just ordered both books from Overstock.com for $10.98 total. I read the first few pages from the Amazon links and they seem pretty good.

Since this movie is on its way has anyone heard anything more about that Lawsuit against the guys who wrote Underworld? They were being sued for stealing ideas from some Role Play company and using them in Underworld if I remember right.

I didn't think ideas could be copyrighted, but maybe I'm wrong.

Well, it was more than that. I just used "ideas" to be general.

Yeah, it was White Wolf trying to sue. Saying that they stole ideas like werewolves and vampires fighting with weapons, vamps having elders, pretty generic stuff that they claim THEY made up for Vampire: The Masquerade. Hello people, Anne Rice made up a LOT of your vamp mythology first. Idiots. Haven't heard anything about that lately. Maybe it got dropped.

I read both of the books and liked them a lot. The first one (based on the screenplay) has a few scenes that are not in the extended cut and gives great descriptions of what the characters are thinking. The second book (Blood Enemy - prequel based on the characters) was great too and gives you lots of history and detail. The writer Greg Cox said he picked the brain of Danny McBride (Underworld writer, producer, etc.) for all the prequel information so the continuity of the story flows very well.

Also, check out the Underworld comics, which are great for further back story. The three issue mini-series gives you the lycan origin of Raze. I think Danny McBride also co-wrote these. Here is a Dec. 2003 article about the comics:

It's good to know others enjoyed the books. I didn't know about the mini series! Thanks for posting this. I guess I'll have to try to find it.

I bought the comics on Ebay for around $10 with shipping. If you cannot find them on Ebay, use yahoo or google with the search terms, "underworld red tooth claw comic." You should be able to find some online sites selling them.

Thank you.

Underworld Evolution updates:

release date is now Dec. 2 instead of Dec. 9. This is a good thing because it comes out a week earlier and does not have to compete head to head with The Chronicles of Narnia.

some cool new pics (Selene in water  )

Very nice read.
Didn't even realize Nighy was Viktor; didn't occur to me. :p
Kate married the director?! :hump:

Bill has become one of my favorite Brit actors in recent years. However I didn't know he's going to be in "POTC II & III". I'm so there!

I know. That's too cool...and even as Davy Jones!

I always had this fascination about pirates and what it must have been like in those eras. I only wish someone would make a pirate movie with the same dark atmosphere like Underworld but without the Disney franchise. :fart:

The vampires look like the warriors from Rohan wearing Urukai armor. :)

Perhaps. But the Death Dealers look a lot less "Metrosexual" than the pretty blonde boys of Rohan.

Mullet or no, Bill Nighy is beyond awesome! I'm definitely looking forward to this even if he only has a cameo. :D

Is it just me or does Michael (Scott Speedman) look... odd? It's as if he's aging really fast or something. :hscratch:

Yes he does. But I know one thing...I would give anything to have Beckinsale look at me the way she's looking at him in the pic. :(
