Time Code

At least I think it was filmed in sequence.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy, I think.

I find that hard to believe. Eventhough filmed in New Zealand, I'm sure the shooting schedule was far different from using the script as a shot list. Jackson would have tried to film as much as possible in the natural elements and locations, before bringing it inside WETA for the greenscreen virtual enviroments. On bad days when the weather or what not stops production, he probably grabbed pick up shot that he could do indoors.

Wasnt 'A Beautiful Mind' shot in order?

PixyJunket 09-02-04 07:33 PM

Memento

FinkPish 09-02-04 08:08 PM

American Graffitti. I think Lucas wanted the actors to look really trashed by the end of the shoot, like they would after a long night.

Philadelphia

Russian Ark is one continuous shot so I guess it counts

nemein 09-02-04 09:53 PM

Platoon was. In fact IIRC from the commentary they made it a point to have the actor gone by the next day after their character was killed off (so the other actors feel that sense of loss after having gone through the boot camp they put them through together).

Dead Poets Society

Weir wanted the young actors to feel a sense of growth and accomplishment that would be reflected in their performances.

Harry Potter & The Sorcerer's Stone

Same again; inexperienced kids.

LOTR i know wasn't. you can watch the behind the scenes or listen to the commentaries to know that.

You are correct. Cate Blanchett had limited time on the set so they filmed all her scenes first from what I recall. That does mean that one of the final shots of ROTK was shot first. ;)

Yes, the Grey Havens scene. McKellen's final lines to the hobbits in that scene were also the very first shots he did for the film.

Alfred Hitchcock's Rope- The film was shot in a series of continuous takes.

I also remember from the LOTR commentary that Aragorn fighting the wraiths with the four hobbits in Fellowship was his first scene.

discostu1337 09-04-04 01:35 AM

I'm pretty sure a lot of Saving Private Ryan was in order. I recall hearing that once someone died in the movie, they were off the set for real, thus giving the illusion of loss to the actors.

Hmm...

Jackskeleton 09-04-04 04:16 PM

I agree with your hmmm donnachaone. From what I recall they didn't just ask the actor to get off the set, they usually shot them in the head. Infront of the other actors. Thus giving the illusion of loss of the actor.

QuikSilver 09-04-04 04:28 PM

Castaway with Tom Hanks?? I could be wrong.

eedoon 09-04-04 05:35 PM

Dances With Wolves shoot in sequential order. While Cast Away shot in two parts sequentially, but I think the scenes in the two part wasn't shot sequentially.

Rypro 525 09-04-04 05:42 PM

the orignal texas chainsaw massachre i know for a fact was shot in chronological order.

KTIK 09-05-04 11:41 AM

Lloyd Kaufman says he shot Citizen Toxie in sequence.
