Star Wars Sequels - news?
Did anyone read in the latest issue of the Star Wars fan club that Lucasfilm is thinking about making films beyond the six star wars films.
It wasn't clear if they were simply thinking about spinning off characters - like having a Sam Jackson star wars film or what.
Anyone know any more?

I should add that they've been very specific to say that there wouldn't be Episodes 7,8,9 - in terms of following the plot/story told in the first 6 films.
This seems more like a spin-off. The news from the star wars fan club is also official and is not based on detective work..ie...significance of non-disclosure agreements...but seems to be some sort of tentative announcement.

I always figured they would do spin-off movies.I never believed for a second that Episode III would be the last one.

Not sure what the big deal is. Didn't Lucas already make these?
Episode 4.1: The Star Wars Holiday Special
Episode 7: The Ewok Adventure (AKA Caravan of Courage)
Episode 8: Ewoks - The Battle for Endor

Seriously, I'm not sure what to believe. And you certainly can't believe what Lucas says, since he contradicts himself all the time. But rumors are flying all over the internet that when Peter Mayhew signed on for Episode 3, it stated in the contract he was also obligated to appear in Episodes 7, 8, and 9:

Then again, people will grasp at any straw you give them. This won't be the last time someone starts this rumor, and it won't be the last time Lucasfilm slaps the rumor down.

Episode 9: Gungans vs. the Ewoks: To the Death
Actually, I am still holding out hope for a CGI animated Shadows of the Empire movie before they move onto anything else. You know that would rock all kinds of goodness.

In before the lock? Usually that is said within the first five minutes of a post. Looks like you missed your mark. Glad to have a Rivero "Lucas blows" comment in a star wars thread. God forbid we have one star wars thread that Rivero doesn't come in and thread crap.

I think it's great having Rivero coming into every star wars thread and bitching! It keeps the fanboys in check. A perfect balance! If you want one side star wars fanboy talk then theforce.net is your ticket. As long as nobody is bashing eachother it's healthy.

Welcome to yesterday's news. There won't be any sequels, period. In Before the Lock... btw, Lucas blows.

I think you need some time away from the forum.
