Just saw this movie, great stuff; simple question.

IIRC, renton left him a note or gave him a key or told him about it - or something. I know it was something that was explained in the film. Maybe you just blinked and missed it.

I've read the book as well but forget if there was an explanation.. I think it might've been a usual drop box for spud/rent boy.

Didn't they (Renton and Spud) share that locker because Renton was afraid of Begbie or Sick Boy taking his Passport and stuff?

Not a spelled out explanation in the movie, per se, but when Renton is making his getaway, he sees that Spud is awake and knows what he's doing. Yet Spud didn't tip him off, waking up the others or anything. He felt sorry about doing that to Spud and left some for him, told him about it later offscreen, no detailed explanation necessary.

From what I remember, when reading the book, Renton never leaves any money for Spud, I think they added it to the movie because they people feel very bad for hopeless Spud especially when he sees Renton escaping ang doesn't say anything, plus it makes Renton seem as least as he has some redeeming qualities.

fazeem, you're incorrect there. Renton definitely did leave it... Spud was probably the only guy in Rent's crew that Renton didnt hate.
