Sounds like a perfect opportunity for a crazed gunman to shoot up a theater while covering his identity...er, I mean, spooooooky.

I attended an all-mime showing of a movie once. Never again. Bastards wouldn't shut up and talked through the whole movie. People think they never speak ... bullshit. They just wait for the most inappropriate moments.

Regarding the clown showing ... no fucking way. No ... fucking ... way. Maybe it will work for Alamo Drafthouse, maybe it is a bit shortsighted on their part. You know what they say "Pennywise and pound foolish."

This movie is going to make a shit ton of money.

Even apart from the easy-to-sell premise, a horror move that doesn't look like a low budget POS is kind of rare. (Maybe more people would go to horror films if they didn't all look like they were shot in someone's backyard and cost a buck fifty.)

I'm kind of worried now that this will eat into the B.O. for Aronofsky's Mother.

I swear I'm not joking about this, but when Cronenberg's Naked Lunch came out, the Bloor Cinema in Toronto had a free screening for anyone willing to watch the movie naked.

According to an article I saw later in the paper, not a single person showed up.

I made a statement like this in the Mother thread. It wouldn't be bothersome if it weren't coming out right on the heels of another horror movie everyone wants to see. They should have waited at least two weeks. I wouldn't be surprised if "It" stays at the top spot for at least three weeks.

A YouTube channel I follow went to a press screening last night. Both really really liked it. They say it definitely earns it's R-rating. Pennywise is truly frightening.

Can't wait.

Got my ticket for 7:55p showing at a Dolby Cinema tomorrow, no way I'm letting talkers ruin my experience; a Dolby Atmos theater should do the trick with that. Plus the added expense usually keeps annoying folks away, which is worth it. I'm not reading these reviews, just glad they're positive.

I thought theaters didn't allow anyone with makeup on. Must be a theater-specific policy, one that I'm okay with, especially with this type of movie.

So, a city that is pretty close to me, Lititz, PA, woke up this morning to find red balloons tied to most of the sewer grates.

Official Police Response via their FB:
A certain movie is coming to theaters in two days, and a local prankster took it upon themselves to promote the movie...............we give points for creativity, however we want the local prankster to know that we were completely terrified as we removed these balloons from the grates and we respectfully request they do not do that again. If you're not sure what we're talking about, search "It" and watch the preview, but we suggest watching the preview with a friend or coworker with all the lights on and the sound down low😀

My city outdid them in terms of the viral marketing:

Down to 89% on RT now, but still quite a good score. I'm looking forward to it (IT).

Surprised no one is stealing them, because it'd be hard for me not to. That's super cool!

It'll fluctuate a good bit more before settling, but that's damn impressive, especially for a recent King adaptation.

My wife absolutely refuses to watch this with me in the theater or at home. Looks like I'll be watching this one by myself.

I kid you not, a month or so ago immediately after I first watched the IT trailer I was sitting on my back porch and a single balloon floated by along the fence line. I'm sure it was just from a birthday party or something down the street but I still almost shit myself!
