I like. Very much.

Edit: Does it work now?

Jackskeleton 08-17-04 11:53 PM

I have to go to impawards.com for one of the web's largest galleries of movie posters..

Kumar J 08-17-04 11:58 PM

I can't see it

Jackskeleton 08-18-04 12:07 AM

works now. danke.

Terrell 08-18-04 12:35 AM

Looks like a slight variation on the LOTR EE DVD coverart. I think they should have done something completely different. Oh well, looks nice enough I guess.

Jackskeleton 08-18-04 12:38 AM

actually.. it looks more like a Carnival side show freak poster. Which does match up with the whole King Kong status since they do put him up on stage for the world to see like a side show freak.

Rammsteinfan 08-18-04 12:50 AM

Its a good teaser poster... I like it.

Rogue588 08-18-04 01:06 AM

umm...yay?

Kal-El 08-18-04 01:27 AM

Meh.

My thoughts exactly. I see the poster but where is the teaser?

Duder 08-18-04 04:08 AM

They only just started filming two weeks ago. Don't expect to see a teaser until NEXT summer.

Regurgitator 08-18-04 08:08 AM

You call that a teaser?!

It's just a bunch letters in a special font.

steebo777 08-18-04 08:24 AM

Hence the phrase teaser. It's supposed to 'tease' you ;)

PalmerJoss 08-18-04 08:58 AM

Exactly steebo. It did it's job for me--it certainly got me even more excited about the film.

rexinnih 08-18-04 09:14 AM

Teased me. I'm ready to see it.

Groucho 08-18-04 09:16 AM

I hope they keep the line about "women and seamen don't mix" from the original.

The line wasn't in the '96 draft of the script.

THIS JUST IN:

The poster is a fake, Universal just debunked it. Move along, folks. :)

I can't tell if you are being sarcastic or not.

I hope you all are being sarcastic because it is NOT a TEASE at all in my opinion. Anyone can just display a title in a special font about a movie.. who the hell cares! If you want a TEASE show one scene from the movie on the poster. Now that's a TEASE.

Then you seem to not understand what the main function of a teaser is. It's not to tease us, the people who know a lot about the movie. It's supposed to let people who have no idea about the movie know it's coming. With a character like this, just the name is enough to let people know what's coming, so why bother with more? Just like the Batman trailer, you dont' need to show much to "tease," and this gives a great start. It just lets people know King Kong is coming.

Plus its got the circus carnival vibe and looks quite nice. I can't imagine why anyone would complain...I mean, this flick is a year and a half away, why would anyone expect much more.

It's not an actual teaser poster - it's a total fake. Peter Jackson & Universal have confirmed.

From Dark Horizons.com:

Last week up in Queensland, Australia was the annual film exhibitors conference showing off lots of advanced footage and movies for the next 12 months. Decorating the hall were a lot of concept posters, most notably this rather sweet and very first ever piece of concept art for Peter Jackson's upcoming new interpretation of "King Kong" was apparently on show. Now be aware, much like the NYC Licensing Show posters, much of the early concept art shown at this convention is NOT what the teaser or final poster artwork will look like - rather it's something the local distributors simply cobble together for the convention and ONLY for that (this stuff isn't actually supposed to be online).

*** Update (18/8) *** - Universal, Peter Jackson and various convention attendees have now all confirmed no such poster has either been made or was at the convention. It's a fake boys and girls.

Well, whoever made it did a nice job.
