A Sound of Thunder

www.asoundofthunder.com

Anybody heard of this film? I know its a film about some future game hunter sent back to the past to hunt dinosaurs but one of them accidently step on a butterfly and thus setting off a ripple effect that change the future.
But.....my question, if a butterfly can cause a ripple effect that mess up the future, how the heck can they go hunting for a dinosaur??? Anyone??

Spoiler:
From a short story. They look for animals that will die in the near future that will not breed during that time. So once they discover a dinosaur that fits that bill they go back to kill it.

No one can leave the path that I believe hovers over the ground. the animal is killed with a form of ammo that will decompose.

A hunter falls off the path. he is pulled back and thought to have done no damage. Once they return to the future they discover major changes. the man who fell looks at his foot and sees a dead butterfly under the mud of his boot.

This story was parodied on the Simpsons when homer turns his toaster into a time machine.

Just caught the trailer on Apple. Looks good. Read the short story and it seems to follow it and take it one step further. Looking forward to seeing this one.

I liked it better the first time when it was called The Butterfly Effect.

Matt, I get the comment's point, but wasn't The Butterfly Effect the one ripping off Bradbury?

I liked this trailer although it seems to have been generally derided, i guess the Land of the Lost/Carnosaur looking T-Rex didnt help.

I dunno if I liked the trailer.. I mean the effects and even the acting seemed good but the premise for the story and all that, in the trailer anyway, just seems kind of dumb. But the explination of the short story makes it sound a lot better... but they just didn't get that point across in the trailer. I think they need to make a new one

My comment was sarcasm. Hell, there are references towards Bradbury in the film (such as the name of the college that Evan attended).

And I'm not seeing Sound of Thunder for the following reasons: Peter Hyams. That man even gives Paul W.S. Anderson the chills.

But he has a character called "Spota" in every one of his films! He must be a GENIOUS.

Seriously though, he did put up the money to make The Monster Squad, so...

I do agree that the effects leave something to be desired, but for a popcorn flick it should be ok. Everything can't be Jurassic Park. And most movies nowadays have been done in some form before, it's just fun seeing a different take on it.

Well, I read that story, and I have to say that's one hell of a predictable, boring end.

I liked it better on the Simpsons. I think the whole theory is BS anyway so I'll be skipping this.

Shoved back to March now! How much confidence is there in this flick, I wonder...

Sorry about that, I accidentally swatted a fly while time traveling through the middle ages, and I think that may have caused the movie to get pushed back to a September 2, 2005 release date.

I saw this at a test screening back in November. Cheesy, but I enjoyed it. I'm a sucker for 'end of the world' scenario films.

The effects weren't complete, and I really hope they work on that dinosaur. It looked like they stole it from the show "Sliders". *Shudder*

The effects in the trailer were atrocious. However, I'm looking forward to this flick...have been since I first saw the trailer at least a year ago. I don't think Peter Hyams is a great director (rent an extra light kit, man!), but I enjoy his flicks, they have a cheesy likeability to them.

Labor Day weekend though, that is a ticket to $50 in BO.

I'm intrigued by the premise, but so far the f/x look incredibly bad.
