There's no redemption here. Pure, unadulterated crap.

Revisited: "Cyborg"

This movie got slammed to hell and back when it was released.

15 years later, is the concensus still that it has nothing of worth?

Good old Albert Pyun. You know what I love about this guy? He's had a directing career spanning over 20 years and almost 40 movies, and he's had yet to top his directorial debut, "The Sword and the Sorcerer". In fact, I think his movies have just steadily declined from that point with each movie being worse than the one before it. It's amazing, it almost defies the laws of nature. Cyborg at least was made fairly early on in his career and so therefore isn't near as bad as some of his later stuff. It's still pretty bad, but it's also kinda fun in a cheesy way.

I saw this a little over a decade ago and thought it was awful. I guess one could say it has some redeeming bring your own entertainment value but I'm not one of them.

I can recall seeing Nemesis around that time also and that it was somewhat decent. I think that is the only other Pyun film I've seen.

Has always been my favorite Van Damme film - instant cult classic. I am still waiting for a good DVD release.

Cheesy but enjoyable.

I would have selected that.

Starting with a generous 100pts

Van Damme is not Tom Cruise. -10

Deborah Richter can't act, is not great looking. -10

Little or no special effects. -10

Script is beyond horrible, but didn't matter because none of the principles could act. -10

Few large panacea shots = small cheap sets. -10

The remaining 50pts are given for good action, cheese and sexploitation.

same here, wish MGM could dig up a unrated cut of the film, with the exicised gore reinstated back into the film.

Did you know? This was originally going to be a sequel to Masters of the Universe.

HBO had this one a while back.

Sweet Jesus. This had me rolling all night long.

The adrenaline practically oozes off the screen. I mean wow. So much tough guy posturing.

Here's some great stuff:
-Switchblade knife in boots
-Flashback with barbed wire pulley
-Dusty shades
-Van Damme kicks
-Two-bit thugs getting tossed about
-A sweet pair of knockers
-Van Damme getting crucified! Wow wow wow.

This is definitely up there in schlock cinema hall of fame.

Hey,
Spoiler:
BOTH of Van Damme's love interests were killed off in this movie
Shouldn't that generate some sympathy?
