I'll second the David Chappelle - Killin' them Softly and will also recommend some George Carlin dvds.

There are some great Bill Hicks DVDs in Region 2. Relentless, Totally Bill Hicks and His "One Night Stand" the man was the greatest stand up of all time.

David Cross's "Let America Laugh Again" is his documentary about his stand up tour, it's more like "comedian" than a straight stand up set, but it's great.

Not really stand-up comedy per se, but An Evening With Kevin Smith is very funny and interesting at the same time. Just saw this last night and laughed a lot throughout it.

Awesome suggestion. Smith is just hilarious telling these stories.

Stand up huh? .... well, Chappelle's Killing Them Softly is very good.

Chip! Don't do it!

Other than that ... if you can find either Richard Pryor or Redd Foxx standup then you're laughin'. I love Redd Foxx.

THE TEN BEST STAND UP DVDS
(not ranked)

1 Jerry seinfeld: I'm Telling You For The last Time 1998
--Jerry retires his act. Pure stand-up. Just one great joke after another.

2 Chris Rock: Bring The pain 1996
--Rock establishes himself as the most important comic voice in America.

3 Ellen DeGeneres: Here and Now 2003
and
4 Ellen deGeneres : the Beginning 2000
--Ellen stream of consciousness is just freaking hilarious

5 Dave Chappelle: Killin Them Softly 2000
-- The hottest comic today in the hour special that launched him into the comedy stratoshpere. Very Funny stuff.

6 Martin Lawrence: You So Crazy 1994
--So funny, so very very funny

7 Eddie Murphy: Raw 1987
--It's hard to believe Murphy was ever so commanding and funny, but he was. Amazing.

8 Richard Pryor: Live in Concert 1979
--A masterpiece of stand-up comedy performance. A landmark film. Live on the Sunset Strip 1982 is also terrific.

9 Robin Williams: Live on Broadway 2002
--The weakest selection onthe list. Not all the bits work, but Robin's manic energy is amazing.

10 Bill Cosby: Himself 1983
--The master comic storyteller. Just Bill on stage with a chair and a microphone.

Seriously, these ten concert films are funny from start to finish, and are the premiere examples of the art of stand-up.

I would also recommend the Eddie Izzard Dressed to Kill disc. Very funny. I'm also a big George Carlin fan and there are a lot of his performances on DVD.

Dane Cook has a DVD that comes with his CD, it's priced at around $15 for both. He's the funniest guy alive.
