What the hell happened to Chris Tucker?

This guy flew off the face of the earth. Whats up with that?

Anyone have any info

Groucho 08-10-04 11:23 AM

He lives like a lottery winner, and dedicates a lot of time to charity work. His two favorite causes:

1. AIDS in Africa

2. People who don't use the "Search" function on message boards.

Rivero 08-10-04 11:38 AM

He went to Africa with Bono. Does a lot of charity work. Rush Hour 3 has been postponed and won't see the light of day until at least 2006.

Matthew Chmiel 08-10-04 12:05 PM

Since he made quite a bit of money off Rush Hour 2, he's well off for a while.

He's told many that once he finishes Rush Hour 3 and Money Talks 2 that he's done with acting. That is if both ever get made.

Frank TJ Mackey 08-10-04 12:28 PM

He went to Africa with Bill Clinton too, unless that was the same trip Bono was on.

scroll2b 08-10-04 12:59 PM

I was thinking the same thing today! Wasn't he supposed to have a movie on being a black president coming out pretty soon?

Jackskeleton 08-10-04 01:13 PM

Tolken Black actor in the spot light changed to Dave Chapelle. :o

gmal2003 08-10-04 07:20 PM

That movie where we was supposed to be president was "Head of State" which was taken by another black Chris:Rock.

harosa 08-10-04 08:06 PM

It wasnt taken , they were competing projects and Rock's was rushed and released first so once it flopped I guess that put the nail in the coffin of Tucker's film.

isamu 08-10-04 09:07 PM

props to chris 4 his charity work. and jacks right. chappelle is the next major comedic icon

Frank TJ Mackey 08-10-04 09:43 PM

We all deserve the long rumored concert film from Chris Tucker. This guy was a brilliant comedian.

Too bad we'll have to see his talent compromised in crap like another Rush Hour and Money Talks Again.

:(

Regurgitator 08-10-04 10:09 PM

He's just waiting for the biggest role of his life and that's to play the new Green Lantern when it comes out in the movies.

He's not dour enough to play John Stewart if that is what you mean. I assume you are joking, though.

gcribbs 08-11-04 11:54 AM

I heard he was making a Rush Hour 3 VS Money Talks 2 movie.

In it the Chris Tucker character from Rush Hour 3 sends a Tuckinator back to the set of the Fifth Element in an attempt to prevent his career. The Chris Tucker from Money Talks 2 sends himself back nude to stop the Tuckinator. Linda Hamilton will also star in a comeback roll.

It is rumored to be directed by Uwe Boll.

;)

neale 08-11-04 01:36 PM

He put on a wig and won the most recent "American Idol."

MasterCXtreme 08-11-04 01:50 PM

He's an employee I had to let go...

Jericho 08-11-04 01:58 PM

I think he washed my car on my way home today

raven56706 08-11-04 02:09 PM

God i hope its not PG-13!

Quatermass 08-11-04 09:19 PM

I heard when they approached him for Rush Hour 2, he asked for the same amount Jackie Chan was getting, around $20 million, and they gave it to him. I didn't know he was doing charity work, but I remember him going to Iraq or Afghanistan about a year ago as part of a USO tour.

Actually they are shooting for a G rating to Really widen the appeal.

The Tuckinator Puns them to death so no blood or violence is needed.

Rivero 08-12-04 07:25 AM

I want a Ruby Rhod spin-off film.

devilshalo 05-05-05 12:33 PM

Crush on 'Rush'

Chris Tucker is expected to sign a two-picture, $40 million contract at New Line.
Tucker and gang return for another run.

The next "Rush Hour" is finally in the fast lane. Chris Tucker, who has made only "Rush Hour" films since 1998, is expected to sign a two-picture, $40 million contract at New Line, which has been trying extremely hard to get the third installment of the buddy pic off the ground.

Fielding Mellish 05-05-05 12:52 PM

Wow.

Just... wow.

fumanstan 05-05-05 12:55 PM

$20 million dollars a film for someone who has never had success, let alone the opportunity, to carry a film by himself is pretty nuts. But hey, if it gets another fun Rush Hour movie, no biggie :)

Man, I love that Mr. Rogers getup he's wearing in the mug shot. And the jail makes 'em all wear that? Wacky.

It looks like he's wearing a shirt and tie in the pic, and the while the orange thing looks like a sweater, I think it's more of an apron or poncho or something. Definitely weird.

Tafellappen 05-05-05 07:39 PM

From the website...

If you're wondering about the orange schmatte that Tucker's wearing, all guests of the McDuffie jail--no matter how short the stay--are required to wear it for their booking photo.

Cameron 05-05-05 08:10 PM

shouldn't have opted out of those friday sequels

Great news! Chris Tucker is awesome! My all time favorite comedy to this day is Friday, but it is still very nice to see him in other roles. He is just so damn funny!

QuikSilver 05-06-05 04:39 PM

I can't believe Chris Tucker get paid $20 million per picture. That's insane. I find him rather annoying than funny.

Rizor 05-07-05 11:30 AM

I think it's insane too, but the guy's gotta be doing something right!

Is that for 2 more pictures or just Rush Hour 3? That's one crazy ass sum of money if it's only one movie, just about the biggest direct payout I can think of.

I've taken some steps to try and dig out the theological debate. If anyone is looking for that part of the thread, it's now a new thread in the Other forum...

40 million?! :wtf: That's ridiculous. How could they even consider that? They better give Jackie that much plus an extra 10 million just outta respect.

From the sound of it, the $40M should cover Rush Hour 3 and Money Talks 2 (or Rush Hour 4). Jackie is getting $20M which should fund his next HK feature ;)

Tucker Ready to "Rush"

by Charlie Amter
May 5, 2005, 5:20 PM PT

Chris Tucker is suddenly in a rush to make movies again.

The Rush Hour star, who hasn't made a film since 2001's Rush Hour 2, is close to signing a two-picture, $40 million dollar deal with New Line Cinema that will finally put the wheels in motion for Rush Hour 3, according to Variety.

The deal sounds similar to one reported in a March issue of the New Yorker. In a story about Hollywood deal-making, the magazine reported that Tucker will get a $20 million-plus payday for Rush Hour 3, plus 20 percent of the receipts.

In any case, the long-in-the-works third edition of Rush Hour is aiming to begin production later this year in Los Angeles and Paris. Paris?!? I guess I have to pop in my Rush Hour 2 to see where they were heading for vacation this time.

The first Rush Hour, a 1998 action-comedy mismatching Tucker and Jackie Chan as L.A. and Hong Kong detectives forced to team up on a case, was budgeted at $35 million and grossed more than $140 million domestically. The 2001 sequel brought everyone back at a cost of $90 million but did even better business, taking in more than $226 million at the North-American box office. Variety reports Tucker took home $2 million for Rush Hour and a cool $20 million for Rush Hour 2.

Chan has already signed on for Rush Hour 3, as has original Rush Hour director Brett Ratner. Chan stands to earn about $20 million and Ratner, $7.5 million, per Variety.

While Tucker has kept a low profile in recent years, he wound up making the wrong kind of headlines last month. He was busted in Georgia after leading police on a high-speed chase.

Police said the 33-year-old comic actor had gunned his 2005 Bentley up to 120 during the 12-mile pursuit.

Tucker, who told cops he was on his way to church, was rung up on counts of reckless driving and fleeing to elude--both charges carry a maximum penalty of one year in prison and a $1,000 fine (it's doubtful Tucker will spend any time behind bars for the incident). The Atlanta native spent some quality time in jail before posting bail.

Tucker's name has also come up in Michael Jackson's ongoing child-molestation trial. Tucker, a longtime Jackson friend, reportedly had dealings with the singer's young accuser. Jackson's defense has listed Tucker as a potential witness, but it's not known if or when he will take the stand.
