Anyone want to post spoilers for the ending and whether any side "wins"? From the comments i'm seeing i probably won't bother catching it in theaters.

Spoiler:
The Alien Queen is sent to the bottom of the Ocean tied to an old water tower? and the Predator is killed. But low and behold, the Predator had been impregenated (something shown earlier) and an Alien-Predator pops out) after the Predator is brought back in the Predator ship. What good one Alien will do against a spaceship full of Predators? Not much

Can someone enlighten me as to how Lance Henrikson fits in with this? I don't see where he is in the whole Alien story arc now?

Spoiler:
In the movie., Lance Henriksen plays Charlie? Bishop Weyland, founder of the Weyland Coporation (he is not an android in this movie) Taking this movie as a prequel (although I don't) it can be confirmed that Bishop 2 is not human in Alien 3, although that was probably Fincher wanted (i.e. he was human, not an android)

I just got back from seeing it, here is my short review.

I didn't hate it, I didn't like it, and I'll forget about it in a few days.

I think it helped a lot that I went into this film with the lowest expectations, as I said I was going to do earlier. I expected a letdown, and a bad film, and it's what we got.

A totally forgettable film that sucked, then was just ok, then sucked even harder. I wouldn't recommend the film to anyone, I couldn't do that in good faith especially to those who are huge fans of both Alien and Predator.

If I had to chose between hating it and liking it though, I'd go with hated it. But like I said, it's a throwaway film to me.

Here are a handful of things that I had against the film.

Spoiler:
First off, as everyone should expect, this film is meant not for the fans of the Alien/Predator universe, but instead for the teenage crowd. It's a film that was intended by FOX from the start to be aimed straight at the younger people, towards the people who just want to see a few monsters get killed, video game junkies, and the WWE crowd.

1) The Alien gestation period in this film lasts only a matter of minutes, instead of days like we have seen established in past films.

2) Well, apparently the Predators are not that much more talented than humans, as they seem to run and jump at about the same speed.

3) We have the Predators teaming up with that battleax in this movie, and it made no freaking sense. She kills an Alien herself, and that should have proved to the Predators that she was more than worthy prey.

3) We also have a Predator P.O.V change, I couldn't believe that.

4) One of my favorite things about the Predators is the camouflage deal. In this film, all of the predators apparently forget they even have the ability as they almost never use it. They tossed it in a couple of times, a couple of very short moments, almost like they felt they had to sometime. Instead of using it as a plot element to help what goes on.

5) This film is PG-13, so they obviously couldn't do too much with it in terms of gore. We had scenes of someone getting killed, but you couldn't see it happening, then you'd see cheap blood flowing on the floor or on a blade. We had, if I remember correctly, ONE chest-busting scene, but what they showed of it lasted only a fraction of a second and looked more like a puppet barely poking it's head through a piece of paper.

You see, this entire film is built upon the concept that the Predators have Aliens here to hunt, and the Predators have it so the Aliens use the humans to breed. They made such a point of forcing that home, over and over again. It just seems to me that they would have made more of an effort to show more chust-busting scenes, as it was so important here.

Like I said though, there is almost no gore in this film.

6) I thought it was funny as crap when that one guy looks up and without even thinking about it, begins to read the entire history of the Aliens and Predators. He had trouble doing it in the past, taking time to read things very carefully and slowly, but when it comes to reading this entire long HISTORY OF EVER, he can do so instantly.

7) At the end when the Predators leave, why in the wold didn't they know that the one that was killed that they took on their ship had an Alien inside of him? They established earlier in the film that the Predators could see when an Alien was inside someone, so why didn't they see it in this one?

Oh I know why, silly me. They couldn't have had that cliched ending scene!

8) I think someone screwed up with the casting also. The T-Rex from Jurassic Park did not pull off the part of the "Alien Queen" convincingly enough at all.

Seriously, I thought I was watching Jurassic Park there at the end. In this film the Alien Queen looks to be about 50 feet tall, and in the past it's been much less than that.

9) From the moment we saw that one chick, well at least for me, I knew that she would be the last survivor. For this film, I thought that they might leave it open, but here they did not.

10) The fight scenes between the Aliens and Predators didn't come off that great in my eyes either. For all that could have been done in respect to the fight scenes, and all that they had to work with, they really dropped the ball in this movie here.

And these are just a few of the plot points that I hated. It doesn't take into account various other aspects of the film that was poor.

Had I went into this film expecting anything other than the worst, I more than likely would be pulling my hair out right now.

Well, I didn't go to the movie with the purpose of running back to the internet to tell everyone how it sucked, like so many others seem to be doing.

I liked it. A lot. And I'm a big fan of the Alien series, and Predator. It started pretty slow, but by the end I was far more satisfied.

The rest of the audience LIKED IT TOO. Applause at the end, and several times DURING the film. Not nit-pickers and doomsayers, apparently.

I felt a lot better walking out of the theater than I did after Alien Resurrection, anyway.

I know what you mean. Sometimes we have to remember that people on the Net tend to be a bit hardcore, picky, negative, and to be honest, lemmings. That's not to say the bad reviews here aren't valid, it's just that most of us are hardcore fans of the both franchises so we tend to go overboard in our criticism and nitpicking.

With that said, I think the "average moviegoer" will probably get a real kick out of this flick and the movie will make decent money.

That's all that matters to the Heads at FOX.

If you are a huge fan of Alien or Predator movies you have got to see this, its really not that bad,i went in knowing that this was'nt cinamatic history in the makeing and i enjoyed the movie.Sure its not as good as aliens, but its like seeing an old friend again,i know that its follows a pretty standard formula for these kind of movies but the bottom line is its ALIENS VS PREDATOR.It could have been done a lot better, but i am glad i went to see it in the theatre, the aliens screams where shakeing the building and the queen was one nasty bitch, all in all i had a good time.As far as i am concerned they can pump one of these out every 2 years and i will be glad to go see it

Okay here you go, in really simple terms:

Spoiler:
While in the pyramid, the humans find and take the three guns (shoulder canons) which the Predators need to fight the Aliens.

An alien takes out one of the three Predators quite easily.

Another alien takes out another one, but it takes awhile.

The last Predator kills a facehugger, then an alien by slicing the front of its head off via the samurai "slice-wait-then-fall-off technique" then gets attacked by another face hugger which we do not see the result, but we assume that the facehugger did its job.

One of the humans figures out that the Predators need the guns and gives it back, then she kills an alien by herself.

Then the Queen calls all the aliens back to burn through the chains so she can escape. As the queen and the aliens run rampant, the Predator drops a time-bomb and they run out of the pyramid.

Pyramid blows up.

Queen breaks through the ice and takes out the last Predator, but not before the human and the Predator tie her collars chain around a water tower. After the last Predator is speared, the last bolt on the water-tower is popped, the queen drops the Predator and then falls into the water sinking all the way to the bottom.

A few more Predators pop up as well as the big mothership, then they cart off the body of the Predator.

Close-up on the Predator's body... and a Predator-bred alien pops out... and flexes its face-fingers and its over.

I liked it. The action was okay and seeing the Aliens and the Predators get screen-time again was cool. I'd give it a C (2 stars) and I'll probably get the DVD.

Whew, a cash grab of non-monumental proportions.

Didn't care who lived or died, didn't care for the back history of predators, aliens, and humans tied together. For most of the last 2/3 of the film, folks are just running and gunning for their lives. Ho-hum.

I give it 1 star, or a grade of D.

I'm thinking those 150 or so people all work at FOX, or are corporate shills.

Just check out Rottentomatoes for what the real score is.

I have a free ticket from the Predator DVD, but the more and more I read about this movie, I think I just want to use it to see something else.

as a fox worker I can tell you that a lot of us hate it to. IMDB has always been the "flavor of the week" when it comes to films ratings. What ever is new is always going to be high up there.

no no no.. it was the same alien. I call him Netty.. cause that net the second predator tossed at him made him scarred up and all. You can see him through the entire movie as the alpha male alien

I'm amazed they killed off not one, but two predators with the same god damn alien. really made the predators look like *******.

Spoiler:
People mentioned that they should have known the last Predetor has a chestburster in him, but, correct me if I'm wrong, they didn't have their helmets on, so they couldn't seen inside it.

Not all the predators had their mask off. there were tons. You figure they would realize that something is alive in it.

Whatever, it was a cheap excuse to leave an opening for a sequel.

Ok, Predators are generally badasses but the fact the they often end up blowing shit up indicates that they can have "bad days".

I really enjoyed it as well for what it was. I will be seeing it again with my other free ticket on Sunday.

And for all those who complain about how it was done, lets get going, get a better script and see you direct it.

Ok, I just saw AVP.

I liked it and the audience was really into the movie and was totally having fun...until:

Spoiler:
The Predator handed Sanaa the Alien head and Tail Spear. From that point everytime the Pred and Sanaa were shown onscreen people busted out in laughter. I think that scene could've been done in a much cooler way. All he had to do is hand her his spear and that woulda been kickass.

One guy even booed Paul Anderson's name when the credits started.

I can't wait for the dvd.

actually that already happened in the alien vs predator world. their was even a video game that featured that same team up. I don't think the team up itself is what screwed it up. It was the way paul anderson handled the team up that was so damn lame.

I agree on all points. Anderson could've handled the scene better.

Also, speaking of Pred/human team up...there's a Dark Horse comic where a Human female has joined a Predator tribe and travels with them. I think she was ex marine.

That's no way to defend a film, and I'm surprised you'd make such a silly, silly comment. A film should stand on its own merits. This film did not.
