That clip robo provided made me tingle. More Predator, More Alien please. The humans are just a side dish.

I wish I could say the same thing. Grrr.

Dr. DVD 08-10-04 08:03 PM

Yep, I will definitely use the ticket.

FWIW, every clip I've seen from the movie so far has featured oozing blood (alien blood) and images that would make an average kid under ten crap their pants with fear. However, I guess it's a wimpfest since it's PG-13.

Mr. Cinema 08-10-04 09:23 PM

I don't like the rating for AvP, but since it is PG-13, shouldn't Freddy vs Jason have been rated PG-13? You know, because all Freddy films and all Jason films were Rated R. I mean, it was Freddy "vs" Jason with "humans thrown in the mix".

I'm sorry but people need to get over the rating already. I'm sure it's only PG-13 because of Sci-Fi violence, with a low human body count. As many many many other posters have said.

Freddy Vs. Jason was rated R for a reason. Yes it was a "versus" movie, but a lot of people died in the movie in graphic ways.

Word.

Last I recall Freddy or Jason films aren't full of Neon Green or Acid for blood.

I really don't know how many times I can say this. But the lack of Red Blood and Human gore makes this able to make it PG-13 and still retain all the gore of two fantasy monsters bleeding all over the place.

It has Aliens

It has Predators

they fight against each other

Lots of their respected blood is shed.

Me Happy.

You know reading everyone's posts about lowering expectations and just wanting to see the Aliens and Predators fight to be satisfied makes me so angry I can't describe it...not really angry at you all...mostly at my self for not continuing to write...if I knew that audiences would continue too accept less and less as time went on I would really just think of a cool scene and stretch it out to movie length. If anyone of you thinks that justifying the PG-13 rating because the blood is not human you are only half right...sure you think just like the studio execs who pumped in all of their useless ideas about how to get the rating down from an R to a tame PG-13...the studios pay huge bucks on research and a PG-13 film makes almost 70% more on opening weekend than an R...

Too add my 2 cents about what I want from Avs.P...it should not be too much to ask for a great story that can link these 2 once great franchises together...I don't care if you adapted the great Dark Horse storylines or created a new one...but this was made to milk as much money from this cash cow (nothing wrong with that) but sometimes it is so frustrating that Studios don't stop and realize what they have because we don't demand much from movies anymore

Dr. DVD 08-11-04 07:49 AM

Maybe of this one is successful we'll get a future installment with the R rating. OF course if it's more of the two creatures slicing and dicing each other I don't see any need for it, but hey, just throw some stupid humans into the mix and we're set!

It's sad how some are lowering their expectations to the absolute rat-gutter level for this thing. Like they're so desperately hoping they don't hate it that if the opening credits are cool they'll say they got their money's worth and more than they had ever dreamed for in an ALien/Predator flick. Sad.

chanster 08-11-04 08:24 AM

What do you expect in a movie called Alien vs. Predator? Its a schlock fest, albeit with two well known franchsises.I'm not lowering my expecations any- because I didn't have any!

Just be happy it was made at all, considering that the movie spent 15 years or so in development hell.

Hence this thing should have never gotten the greenlight in the first place and should've remained in development hell for all eternity.

chanster 08-11-04 09:07 AM

I think worse-premise ideas have been greenlighted and given higher budgets.

Rivero 08-11-04 09:28 AM

fair enough

darqleo 08-11-04 10:57 AM

It opens in 2 days and still no reviews?

Rammsteinfan 08-11-04 11:07 AM

It just wont be a predator movie if they dont put ugly mf'er in there when it comes to DVD. the ugly SOB just doesnt cut it...

I got two tickets in my pred dvd so I am all set to see it twice this weekend! cant wait.

Giantrobo 08-11-04 12:48 PM

Dammit! When are we going to see FEMALE PREDATORS?

vikings 08-11-04 01:17 PM

I think they should have shot the whole movie from the Predator's perspective and left out the humans entirely. That would be groundbreaking cinema....

what the hell are you talking about? Check this out. Free movie ticket means that not only do half the people watching paid nothing to see, so the only worth invested was their 90 minutes. I don't see how it could be all that bad and such a waste of time that they have to lie to themselves about how good it could, should, would have been.

I think it's sadder that people are jumping on a rating simply because it's not what they expected. I also find it sad that folks build up this expectation that it is gory beyond all belief when the two franchises in the past haven't been really that gore filled and the rating was for other things.

Will there be plenty of implaing, stabbing and slicing? yes. Some of you act like this needs to be something that it isn't or shouldn't ever been. With a build up of 10-15 years, no wonder you people are expecting no less then the second coming of christ to pop out of the screen.

"Enjoy it for what it is" doesn't mean we are lowering our standards to fool ourselves. it means we are just going in with the expectations of what the film is. a popcorn flick. Can't handle that? go to an indie theater and watch your artesy crap some more and live in your world where the only good films come from Focus features.

The first time I mentioned it I did state that it wasn't a good sign that it would be well reviewed. But then again films like this don't have that much effect on the take in. Hell, if good reviews were the only factor in a films box office then Collateral would have opened at 50 million last week. One of the best reviewed films of the year and still just got 24 m.

Besides, this is Alien Vs Predator... the title says it all on what it will be. Tag in a paper thin plot and just make sure you have said aliens fight said predators and that's the film.
