Surviving Christmas with Ben Affleck and James Gandolfini

Okay, when I first saw the preview I thought it looked dumb, but then I saw that Affleck was more or less playing a loud mouthed jerk, so that's a plus. Still didn't laugh much though.

However, at the end of the preview when Gandolfini mercilessly whacks Affleck with snow shovel, I almost busted a nut laughing. While I doubt the movie will be that great, I do have hope if it gives us a bunch of Affleck suffering at the hands of James.

Here's the writeup of the movie on yahoo! Movies

A rich record executive (Affleck) stuck with spending Christmas alone (after his girlfriend, played by Morrison, dumps him) decides to return to the one place where he was once happiest, his childhood home, asking the family that lives there now to take him in for their holiday celebrations, but he discovers that his new "family" is even more psychopathic than his real kin. (Applegate plays the daughter of the family, an intelligent scientist; Gandolfini and O'Hara play the parents).

That almost seems like the casting of Denise Richards as a nuclear scientist in that Bond movie.

I think it looks like it's gonna be really funny. I'm gonna check it out if I get the chance.

Saw the trailer last night and while I don't think the movie looks all that appealing, it is a great role for Gandolfini.

Ah - but will we get to see the full "Gandolfini" this time?

Dammit.

All those "Sopranos" episodes with the "partial nudity" warnings at the beginning without the "goods" - so to speak - have taken their toll.

For me she's kind of grown away from her Kelly Bundy-ness. When watching Anchorman I completely bought her as the smart, career minded woman and had completely forgot about her ditzy past roles. Denise Richards, on the other hand, I agree 100%.

Hasn't this movie been sitting on a shelf for 18 months or something like that? Never a good sign.

While certainly forever known as one of the most famous dumb blondes, Kelly Bundy, the real life Applegate is 50-75 IQ points more intelligent that Denise Richards!

Rented this on DVD last night. Not bad at all. The "plot" is just ridiculous, but there were some hilarious moments.

Rented this movie over the weekend....I'm going to agree with taa455...Not bad at all! Typical ridiculous plot but it had some really hilarious parts. I think this movie would have done much better if it was released around Christmas then Halloween

While I'm sure you're right, you also say the same thing about the Star Wars prequels.

Honestly, for the time being, I get the feeling Ben Affleck is BO poison, regardless of the quality of the movie. People are really starting to associate him with bad movie.

Though, there is a decent reason for that.

That actually doesn't mean a whole lot. Taking dumps is more fun than any movie I've ever seen...
