Hmmm...well then he needs to lose a lot of weight for this. I can't picture him as You-Know-Who right now. As for Miranda Richardson...she seems too old to be Rita. I always pictured her as a young, claw-her-way-to-the-top-no-matter-what type.
I still can't believe they're not making this into 2 movies...

I was really hoping they'd use Jermey Irons, but Ralph Fiennes seems like a good choice (I remember hating his character in Schindler's List so much that I was so happy to see him die... so I think he'll make a good Voldemort)

Mike Newell?? Wonderful. Talk about taking a step forward with Azkaban then two steps back. Anyways, Fiennes is a good choice. I would have preferred Jeremy Irons but whoever plays the role will probably be covered in makeup anyway. They should seriously consider making this one three hours long if they're really going to make GoF just one film.

Plus everyone that's seen the first 3 movies knows he's the major bad guy and would be dense to not to have him in mind when watching the future movies and wondering who's behind whatever bad is going on.

I've enjoyed all the casting choices made so far throughout the HP series and this looks to be just as good as the casting of Gary Oldman as Sirius. I look forward to seeing Ralph Fiennes hamming it up as Voldemort.

Good choice imo. He was the best thing in Red Dragon, and is just all around a good actor.
Now here's just hoping Newell does a good job. I was soft on the series until Azkaban. Cuaron just did an amazing job and I jsut love that movie, so here's hoping that Newell can at least do a good followup.

I'm disappointed that they are changing directors ... but since I have no experience with book 4, I don't know if this book is simply lighter on the whole or what.

Anyone know why they didn't keep the director of Azkaban? That change is bigger news than Fiennes as Voldemort.
I loved everything about Azkaban... here's to hoping that Mike Newell can do a dark, dramatic movie.

I think that Brendan Gleeson as Alastor "Mad Eye" Moody is a good choice too (found on IMDB).
Fiennes as the Dark Lord will be cool.
I just hope that Michael Gambon can stay alive long enough to the finish the films... I'd hate for the role of Dumbledor to be treated like the Dark Arts teacher at Hogwarts.
