Glad a mod came in on this. It was getting beyond ridiculous.

I've heard some people say that the Director Cut ending is better because it preserves the tradition of Ash getting screwed at the end of each movie. While I respect that point of view as well as the fact that this ending is what the director originally intended before the studio put pressure on him to change it, I still gotta go with the S-Mart ending as my favorite. I think it's an ending that's more in tune with the spirit of the movie, which is kind of a fun action/adventure romp. Trapping Ash in some distinct future would be like if Indiana Jones drank from the wrong glass in The Last Crusade, or if Luke turned to the Dark Side at the end of Return of the Jedi. But also, since there's probably not going to be an Army of Darkness 2 where Ash fights Post-Apocalyptic zombies, it was good have Ash really kicking ass before it was over. The dialogue and then when he was rolling across the room on that cart, firing his gun like The Rifleman, that was one of the greatest parts in the movie.

I prefer the DC ending all the way. I find it funnier than the S-Mart ending, even though the S-Mart ending is more in tune with the Ash who can make gunpowder using a high school chemistry textbook.

TO GET BACK ONTO TOPIC, I've decided that, after some thought, the theatrical ending may not fit the best, but it is the more entertaining version. I stand by my opinion that you should get the r3 release for the most complete version, however.
