So im at work talking to this hot coworker of mine...asking her about movies

Get this...shes NEVER seen, or even heard of Fight Club...
so then i go...thats like saying youve never seen Jaws. A coworker overhears and says..."Ive never seen Jaws"...to which i respond the obvious "Youve never seen Jaws... next youre going to tell me youve never seen Titanic...of course theyve seen THAT

Sound like a Paris Hilton comment in regards to when she asked "I forgot who" on TV what was their favorite horror film. The person said, Evil Dead, and she responded, "I never heard of it."

Then again it was not she who asked...

I agree with your shock about Jaws but not Fight Club.

My experience with Fight Club is you've either a) seen it and built a shrine, statue and edition to your house commemorating it, or b)Never heard of it

FWIW, I have seen FC and didn't like it. *ducks behind wall*

Fight Club made a total of 37 million in US Theaters:
http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=fightclub.htm
So that would be at most 8 million people. Let's say 4 times that number have since seen it on video, bringing it up to 40 million people that have seen Fight Club. That's less than 1/6 of the country's population...so, not at all surprising if someone hasn't seen it.

Jaws, in contrast, earned $260,000,000 in theaters in the mid-70's, when ticket prices were at least 50% less than now. Jaws was much more a part of popular culture than fight club was.

and how old are your coworkers??

not having seen "Jaws" or simply not knowing about the book/film are two different things in my opinion.

I've never seen a Rocky movie or Rambo movie - so shoot me?!

When talking to co-workers I always bring up famous actors then lead the conversation into movies. Because even though there are people who have never heard of Fight Club I'm sure those same people all know who Brad Pitt is.

Big deal. I've never seen a lot of movies until I came to this place.

LOL. Yeah, that should be the #1 rule on people who don't illustrate their posts.

I've never seen Fight Club.

So... what are you gonna do? Post pictures of me on the Internet and laugh at me?

i think that some people on this thread need to lighten up...i was just referring to the fact that itts a shame that these co-workers of mine had never seen Fight Club or Jaws......

And just a little background on the co-workers...they are people who you would look at and EXPECT them to have seen it

OK, first of all, we need pics of the hot co-worker!

Second of all, not only could she be hot, but she more than likely is smarter than you . . . The first rule of Fight Club is YOU DO NOT TALK ABOUT FIGHT CLUB! Duh!

Loved Fight Club, but I have never seen Jaws. I just got around to seeing The Godfather for the first time about six months ago, followed by Poltergeist and The Exorcist, all of which I'd never seen before.

I don't think it's that uncommon to have not seen a very famous, popular movie.

I haven't seen The Godfather or (most of) Titanic. I have every intention of seeing The Godfather, I just get side-tracked by films like Suspiria and Run, Man, Run. It's just a simple matter of wanting to see a film and having time to do so. I guess I and many others just haven't yet.

Quick question for Mwdkill.
Which of the following movies have you seen?
Gone With The Wind
Citizen Kane
The Philadelphia Story
Modern Times
Casablanca
Rear Window
Seven Samurari
Lawrence of Arabia
Some Like It Hot

One person's "must" is another person's "Huh?" I imagine...
