Anyone else remember the CBS 'Dirty Dancing' TV show? it continued the story from the first movie... and bombed in its 1st season.

From: A little bit here and a little bit there.
artisan further insults people after botching their dvd line, with a sequel to one of their more profitable films on dvd, dirty dancing.
i'd rather watch lambada and the forbidden dance.
you know, so I can set the night on fire.

Yup. Some friends of mine tried land roles as extras but were never called back.
What part of PR are you from?

Dirty Dancing:Havana Nights question
Okay, the movie hasn't opened yet, but my question isn't one that regards plot.
I was glancing over the cast list at the IMDB, and noticed that Patrick Swayze was listed to play the same character he did in the 1987 original. Major problem is, this one takes place several years before the original, and Patrick Swayze is 17 years older!!! How in the world do they intend to explain this inconsistency, or will it just be blown off?

The character isn't identified. Swayze just shows up, dances (well) with the lead, and tells her to follow her heart. They never assign him a name.
IMO, not a very good film. It tries to ape the original DANCING formula, but tosses in way too much Cuban revolutionary material. It’s a mess, but a short (80 minutes) mess…

I know nothing about this movie and just saw a preview for it this weekend. My question is. Why are they trying to ruin the Dirty Dancing name? It looks horrible and I wish it was just called Havana Nights so I wouldnt' have to think twice about it.

Dirty Dancing - Havana Nights
I just watched this movie, it's out now on DVD.
It's actually a pretty decent movie, up until the end (from the big dance scene on). It's not a prequel (it's set in 1959 Havanna, just before the revolution) or even a sequal. It's the same story with a different setting.
And yes, Patrick Swayze has a good 5 or 10 minutes in the film, he's a dance instructor at the hotel that the heroinne is staying at who helps her overcome her fears.
And if you like Spanish music, then you'll probably like this movie. The music isn't 1950s music, it's sort of a cross between 1950s music and modern Spanish music. I'll be keeping my eye out for the soundtrack.

Awful movie.
My mama wanted me to rent this from my trial at BBO and so I bit the bullet and did. She loves and is addicted to the first one (which is pretty good - although she watches her dvd copy all the time and everytime it even comes on tv which is quite a lot).
But this film was just horrible.
Horrible acting.
Horrible story.
Horrible pacing.
Horrible direction.
And I didn't get any satisfaction from the Cuban women, either. Which is a shame.
My mama also did not like the fact that the last dance sequence was interrupted by some stupid action type segue.
She thought it was sub-par.

My wife is a HUGH Swayze fan and a HUGHER fan of Dirty Dancing as it was filmed near her high school whilst she was attending. As a result I have had to watch that damn flick more times than I care to count!! I drew the line at watching Havana Nights.
Swayze = NO SALE for me!!!
Take care all!!!
