but I am still disturbed by Lucas's extreme usage of blue/green screen.
Well, when it comes to Lucas' imagination where these films are concerned, there are just quite a few things you can't build. Anakin and Luke fighting over lava is one of them.

All of the Tantive IV shots are full sets. The shot with Ewan standing next to Anakin is a full set. The shot where Anakin and Padme are kissing is a full set. The shot with Palpatine, Anakin, and Obi-Wan is a full set, you just can't see it fully. The green screen is where the windows to the trader federation ship are, basically space shots. It's nice to see actual wookies in suits, although there will be some CG wookies in the distant background. It's just too time consuming to build 50 wookie suits, especially if you saw the way they built them. Not to mention having to find extras who are all over 7 feet. The shot with the jedi starfighter and R2 is obviously a space shot during the space battle, so no other way to shoot it except with bluescreen. The scene where Padme is talking to Obi-Wan is a full set. The shot with Jimmy Smits talking is a full set. There are dozens more full scale sets that aren't shown. So it's not like some people seem to think, all CG.

People really don't realize how many miniatures and sets Lucas really uses. More miniatures were used on Episode I and II than were used in any of the original trilogy films, according to a Cinefex article on ILM. Almost as many matte paintings. But there will be quite a bit of CG. I can understand why. It's easier and cheaper for him to do it that way. If he did these films exactly the way he did the old ones, they cost 200+ million to make. I doubt he wants to pay 600 million for three films, marketing not included. Not only that, he's trying to push the envelop to advance the tools for other directors.

I do agree he uses CG in a couple areas where he doesn't have to. Clone troopers for one. I would have liked for him to at least make 3 or 4 dozen clonetrooper costumes with extras, and have them within say the first 50 yards of the camera. That would have been easy to do. The problem they had was trying to find enough people who are the exact same height as and size as Temura Morrison. But they could have found some at least some. That said, the CG clone troopers were very close to photoreal. As close as you can get with CG.

But I don't believe Lucas should have to compromise his vision just so he can use less CG.

By the way, it's possible Jason!

I don't mind CG at all, I don't care how much he uses. But I would like to see Jar Jar get lightsabered in half this time...

Sorry!!! It doesn't happen, although I can sympathize with your plight. Just be happy that Jar-Jar's is basically nonexistent in this movie.

But Anakin has more mete-chlorians !

I like how the Jedi-starfighters look more and more like tie fighters tho.

I certainly hope that a mod has warned Rivero for this BLATANT threadcrap. Rivero tries to turn every SW discussion into a crap-a-thon.

So now it's ok for others to crap on Star Wars threads and we're supposed to just "give it a rest"? When did this happen? We post news/rumors about Episode III. Anyone who's genuinely interested is welcome to participate but if all you're doing is cutting and pasting from some Reasons Why I Hate George Lucas and Star Wars Archive of Posts, again I have to ask, what's the stupid point?

WHY DO YOU COME INTO A STAR WARS THREAD AND CRAP AROUND????????????????????????????

I will rest when a-holes that thread crap give it a rest. There are certain people who never never never never never ever add one god damned thing to a discussion about Star Wars. We were discussing some pictures from the new film. Then, like always, the jerks squirm out of the woodwork. I would say that his comment, like yours is bordering on trolling.

When they make you a moderator around here, I may take your words under advisement. Until then, bug off.

Did anyone else notice the chair that Palpy is sitting on in that one pic?

I refuse to comment on that chair until the Non-SE OT Dvds are released!

That's a frickin' laugh. It's people like you and Rivero that whine all the time, simply because you're not getting your way.

Well, you can expect no less from trolls. Hell, that's the best part of a troll's day, threadcrapping.

Yeah, the Lucasfilm gestappo was sent out with their marching orders. Go to the franchise section over at CHUD.com, and go into the "Episode 3 Pictures" thread. You can find them there.

George Lucas has completely lost it.

Why any of us "care" at all about the final Star Wars is beyond me.
