the ring 2 director is the director of the original ring
I just realized that gore verbinski isn't returning as director of the ring 2 (probably a good thing)
And that the original director of the japanese version of the ring (hideo nakata) has directed the sequel which is coming out this november.
the other weird part is that it's a direct sequel to the remake of the ring and doesn't have anything to do with the japanese sequels which hideo nakata directed.
I am surprised that dreamworks chose hideo after gore was busy working on other projects (some schmaltzy nic cage film as well as the impeding pirates sequels)

I look at the choice of bringing Nakata in to direct the sequel as a step in the right direction. I much preferred Ringu to The Ring, and think he'll bring much more to the story and movie than Gore Verbinski could have.
