Underwater Horror Flicks
I was bored last night so I watched the special edition Abyss. Great movie. But now after watching that, I got the sudden crave to watch Leviathan and Deep Star Six. Do any of you guys remember those movies? I'm finding Deep Star Six kind of hard to find on DVD. Are both of those movies available on widescreen DVD?

You may also want to check out BELOW with Bruce Greenwood...I didn't care for it, but it's probably better than both Leviathan and Deep Star Six.

I just saw Creature From the Black Lagoon last summer at a drive in, it was a very nice film. The version I saw was in 3-D, we had those cardboard glasses on the whole time.
Anyway, this one isn't in the water, rather it's on the water, but Dead Calm is a very good film (and was one of Nicole Kidman's first movies, it is from '89, she was 21 (maybe 20 when it was filmed)).
Take a look at the keywords / themes / and tones assigned to it by www.allmovie.com :
Keywords : couple, maniac, passenger, stranger, yacht
Themes: Nightmare Vacations, Woman In Jeopardy
Tones: Tense, Menacing, Claustrophobic, Atmospheric, Paranoid, Disturbing
Another good ship / boat movie is the Polish movie "Knife in the Water", a Roman Polanski film from '62 (in Polish, of course).

Dead Calm is one of my favorites (saw it in the theater with my mom)... figured it wasn't underwater, so it didn't count.
Event Horizon - it's not underwater, but it is very much like an underwater movie. Part of the appeal of underwater settings is the isolation.

Deep Blue Sea is a pretty good underwater action/horror/shark movie.
Deep Rising is one of my favorite B action movies, even though it takes place on a boat it is very similar to Leviathan.

I just ordered both Leviathan and Deep Star Six from dvdsoon.com for just over $14.96 CAD (just over $12 USD) shipped. By far the best price I've found. It will probably take a while to get here, but I can wait.

Didn't Deep Star Six have that dude from My Two Dads & BJ and the Bear, and Terry, the third blonde chick from Three's Company? Or am I thinking of yet another underwater movie from that time?
...checks IMDB...
Nope - I was right about BJ and the Bear guy, but Priscilla Barnes from Three's Company was in another film called Lords of the Deep... Guess I merged the two somehow. Lords of the Deep was a pile by the way. Deep Star Six wasn't half bad.
