The Grudge remake trailer up.

Moviebox just posted a link to Yahoo Movies' premiere of the Grudge, the remake of the Japanese flicks now with Sarah Michelle Gellar. Some of this looks shot for shot with the previous Japanese movies but then again, it is the same director

It looks like a higher budget version...

The hand coming out of the head shower-scene is uh nice hehe.

Yeah, couldnt find the page on Yahoo so I just posted Moviebox's link, I still gave credit where its from so your nitpicking is pointless.

Meh... absent are the creepy throat clicking sounds, but it looks like they re-created alot of the scenes. I don't know if SMG can carry a film by herself, but I'll see it anyway since I'm curious.

it looks like "The Ring", "Sixth Sense", "The Others", among others all rolled into one. Seems tired and rehashed. I like SMG on tv, but don't know if I can buy her on the big screen.

She needs to prove herself as an actual actress, so this will be the real test for her. I Know What You Did Last Summer and Scooby Doo aren't exactly training grounds for good acting, so this will be interesting to see if she can pull off a lead role in a movie with an actual plot.

Well, they seem to be following the original's look so far, but unlike those they look like theyre making her the sole focus of the movie.

PORQUE!!! You must have known how much I hate the You Got Served ads (I almost broke my TV when they came on once) how did you know? HOW!!!

Well uhm, yeah

It looks like an accurate remake, and remember it's only a trailer.

That said, it could be good, it could be bad. The original was nothing to write home about, this just looks like a higher budget rendition with an SMG.

Yeah - the first Ju-On movie (haven't seen the made-for-tv ones) wasn't all that awesome, but Ju-On 2 was. Hopefully they decide to pop out the sequel (if this one is good, that is).

I really, really hope this remake gets to be a big hit...not because of SMG but more of the fact that the studio greenlit it with the original director, Takashi Shimizu making it.

I always think that no one make Japanese horror (with all the creepy atmosphere and sensing dread) better than Japanese filmmakers.

I just saw Ju-On 2 and it is defintely better than the first but both had creepy as hell scenes. The trailer looks to have some scenes copied from pt.2, but its been awile since Ive seen pt.1 so they might be from that also.

Very creepy trailer (Japanese ghost women freak me out). The Ring 2 comes out a week and a half later so it'll be an interesting box office battle.

It may be good but I just got a whole "ring wannabe" vibe from it and with it coming out right when the Ring 2 is, I can see why. I really hate when hollywood makes "competition" films to release together, like Deep Impact and Armageddon and so many others.

Well, I'm looking at the cast list, and I don't know is it a good or bad thing that it stars Sam Raimi's brother and Tom Cruise's cousin.

I was very eager to see something from this, from all the press in Fango & online, SMG, and Sam Riami new co. it all got me curious. It looks really good and hopefully, really scary.

About Ring 2 in Nov.: Certainly, a BO fight will ensue, but Gore is gone, and well, I want to see this more, than more videotape stuff (sorry, but I think Scary Movie 3 ruined Ring for me-I already got rid of my dvd.)

Thumbs up on the teaser.

Don't forget Ted Riami is in this, too.

Jonpeters, keep in mind that Ring 2 is being helmed by the original Ringu director as well. Looks like the Halloween of the Japanese filmmakers...

Do you have a point?

parts of 1 and 2 are happening at the same time, but from different perspectives. Very cool.

By the way - here's the trailer for the original in case you haven't seen it... http://www.asiandb.com/browse/movie_...471&mode=stuff

The trailer for Ju-On 2 is on that site as well.

Trigger, dont ask me how, but i watched pt.2 of the tv movies instead of pt.2 of the theatrical releases (as I stated in my original post) but my assesment of them being scary as hell still stands. Reading some reviews of TV movie 1 & 2 I do see that they have intercrossing stories, very cool indeed.

It was pretty clear that my point was that I didn't know if it was a good thing or a bad thing. I've never seen William Mapother in a major role - he's always tucked away in the back of Tom Cruise films; his biggest speaking part I've seen was in Swordfish. Nothing too special there. Ted Raimi's simply an oddity; he's alright, I liked him on "Seaquest DSV" ten years ago, but it's difficult for him to convincing as an actor.

What's everyone bitching about? That looked like a pretty good teaser to me.

The guy had a major role in In the Bedroom and was quite good in that.
