Reserved my A-List ticket for the 6th. It would have been $21 and change in my area. Never saw this in the theater. My first experience was VHS and later the old FOX DVD that I still have. Plenty of seats available at my showing. Unless you’re a hardcore film person, I can’t imagine that many people are super excited for a cult 34 year old movie.

My theater is about 80% full. The first 3 rows of the auditorium are the only seats left.

I bought my ticket for Wednesday. Maybe a quarter of the tickets have been sold for the screening at my closest Cinemark on their Extreme Screen. I'm excited as I've never seen it.

Dang, someone got the seat next to me... it's just awkward with the way Dolby seats are paired up. I suppose we can rule it out being an unruly kid or teenager at least.

It's been a while since I've done it... but I've definitely purchased the seats around me and then refunded them right before showtime via Fandango's platform.

I don't really go to the popular screening times, so not much need these days.

On one hand, this this is diabolical. On the other hand, I watched Moonrise Kingdom with a stranger in a fancy theater with a loveseat (sharing an armrest and table). We both laughed about it. And there was hand holding.

Back when I used to go to movies, my wife and I would show up early, pick out good seats, then sit with two seats between us. We'd put her purse next to me and throw a jacket over the seat next to her to "save" the seats. Then, when the movie started, we'd switch seats with our objects.

One thing we have in common is that we absolutely hate having people sitting next to us and fighting over that armrest with strangers.

And now that all movie theaters have reserved seating, it sucks if you get stuck in front of some asshole who's going to cough on you the whole time, or sitting behind the guy who gets up every ten minutes, or, even worse, that asshole is sitting next to you and has to push his way down your row every ten minutes. Or the people who have a bunch of kids that fight through the whole thing.

Was looking forward to seeing this one the big screen, but I have a very sore throat and don't feel quite right so I don't think it's a good idea to sitting in a movie theatre.

Hard to believe this came out the same summer as Batman, and Ghostbusters II, and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. For some reason, it just doesn't feel like it's part of that era. Or that could just be me.

My showing is at 6pm and I'm going out to dinner before the show. I have a feeling if its close to three hours the time will likely fly by.

I’m guessing there will be a short introduction from Cameron and the movie will play right away. This isn’t a typical screening.

My Dolby Cinema showing has sold around 75 seats. Thats not too bad for a 34 year old movie.

It looks like they are giving out posters, but YMMV on your theater chain.

Wow that was good. For a first time viewing that was the way to go seeing it on the large format screen. Learning about how difficult the movie was to make you could feel the tension in almost every scene. I'll be buying the 4k version in March. Yes there was an introduction by Cameron and the poster was a nice bonus.

It was gorgeous and sounded awesome. The Atmos was great with the water dripping from various speakers in the theater and the hollow metal interiors echoing throughout. So good. 99% of it was just gorgeous. That other 1%? A shot at the end of the rig sitting on the craft, it looked like something pulled from a VHS transfer. Very strange. Also, seeing it so large and with the audio, certain shots felt far more claustrophobic and intense than it would at home.

There was an intro by Cameron. We had potentially 3 trailers but they kept cutting out at 5 seconds in almost like they were being streamed from online. So eventually it just went to black for a few minutes before the Cameron intro kicked in.

I haven't seen it since the old DVD either, so 20+ years. I didn't remember much of it at all. It holds up very well, even the early CG work. Of course it helps that it's a self contained movie where you're not dating it by clothes and hairstyles. Having not seen it for so long, I didn't recall the score at all. It took me out 3-4 times where musical cues sounded like they were lifted straight out of Back to the Future. Silvestri cribbing Silvestri.

Theater had a few dozen posters. My daughter and I grabbed a couple.
