I'm trying to search for a movie that terrified me when I was a kid, but I can't remember the name.

I must have come out in the early 80's, possibly late 70's.

It was basically about aliens fighting people on earch. I can remember there were scientists studying the alien eggs which looked kind of like a sea urchine. One of them cut their fingers on the egg and got infected.

I know its vague. Anyone have any ideas ??
