favorite blaxplotation flicks!
I love THE HUMAN TORNADO, which was part of the DOLEMITE collection. Hilarious film.
also enjoy SOUL VENGENACE about a black man who gets nearly castrated by a racist cop, only to gain a penis(were talking 10 feet here) that he uses to seduce white women and choke people. brilliant!
shaft was overrated

Blaxploitation rules!!!!
Shaft is fantastic, if you want to talk overrated then Superfly is definitely a contender.
BLACK CAESAR is the best as far as i'm concerned. Hell Up In Harlem, Bucktown, Truck Turner, Coffy, Cotton Comes to Harlem, Foxy Brown, Slaughter etc.. are all great flicks as well.

Shaft --- by a mile. But I also love Black Belt Jones, Cotton Comes to Harlem and Coffy.
Not sure if these qualify as "blaxploitation" but Claudine and Uptown Saturday Night are two of my absolute favorites from that era. Matter of fact, Uptown is one of my all time favorite comedies..

Believe it or not, there was one actually good movie to come out of all that blaxploitation, it was called Sweet Sweetbacks Badasssss Song, from my Video movie guide:
Minor cult black film about a man running form racist white police forces. Melvin Van Peebles plays the title character, who will do anything to stay free. Very controversial when relased in 1971. Lots of sex and violence gave this an X rating at the time. Probably the best of the black-produced and-directed films of the early 1970s.

I don't think of Sweet Sweetback's Baadassss Song as blaxsploitation. It's too angry, more like a message film. Before I rented it, I asked the shop owner what it was about. He told me, "Sticking it to the Man." I agree that it's a really good movie.

I hope "Jackie Brown" is considered one.
Only one I saw, but I thought it was a revival of the genre of some sort. Don't know much of the definition, but recently saw it again as another chance and thought it was much better on 2nd viewing.
