Dave Chappelle might play Rick James again...
Chappelle Gets His 'Freak' On
By Liza Foreman
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Comedian David Chappelle (news) in early talks to play Rick James in a film based on the funk musician's upcoming memoirs, "Memoirs of a Super Freak."
James, 56, best known for his 1981 hit "Super Freak (Part I)," has been working on a book for some time. Producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura is in negotiations to acquire the rights for a Paramount film.
In addition to his own pop and R&B hits, such as "You and I" and "Mary Jane," James wrote and produced songs for the likes of Teena Marie (news), the Temptations and Eddie Murphy (news). The one-time Navy deserter fell prey to drugs, and spent time behind bars in the 1990s for assault and holding a woman against her will. He suffered a stroke in 1998.
Chappelle, who has impersonated James on his Comedy Central series, "Chappelle's Show," starred in such features as "The Nutty Professor" and "Con Air."

Mmm.. 11 year old girls.
Honestly, I'd stand seeing 11 year old girls quoting Dave Chapplle for the rest of my life if I could never hear another GROWN MAN bitch and moan about Star Wars, but that's just me.

So wait, would this be a dramatic role, or would they turn Rick James life into a comedy?

"Let me tell you something. The show's runing my ****ing life! The other week, I tried taking my kids to Walt Disney World and everybody was coming up to me going, 'I'm Rick James bitch!' Hahaha. 'I'm Rick James bitch!' And all I could say was, 'Stop saying the word bitch in front of my kids!'"

Funk Singer Rick James Dies in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES - Funk singer Rick James, best known for the 1981 hit "Super Freak," died Friday, apparently of natural causes, police said.
James, 56, died at 9:45 a.m. at a residence near Universal City, said Officer Esther Reyes, a Police Department spokeswoman.
"He died apparently of natural causes. We learned of his death after responding to a radio call," Reyes said.
After his big hit, James' fame began to fade as he became embroiled in legal problems and health troubles.
James was convicted in 1993 of assaulting two women. The first attack occurred in 1991 when he restrained and burned a young woman with a hot pipe during a cocaine binge at his house in West Hollywood. He was free on bail when the second assault occurred in 1992 in James' hotel room.
James was sentenced to more than two years in state prison.
In 1997, he released a new album, but a year later he suffered a stroke while performing at Denver's Mammoth Events Center, derailing a comeback tour.
In 1998 he also underwent hip replacement surgery
