I would have guessed that those would have dropped the most myself.

They will drop today. I can guarantee it. Once people think it has moved to the top the big hitters will short it like crazy and drive it down to make a bunch.

I'm just happen I made enough so far today to cover my screw up Call/puts from the weekend.

I've got another question....
Other than calls/puts/warrants, how does what a movie actually do in the box office actually affect its stock price?

Movie stocks float according to market forces, with two exceptions.

First, for any movie that gets a wide release (650 or more screens), it is halted at 9 p.m. on release day. Then, at the end of the weekend, it is adjusted to 2.9* its weekend gross. Thus, if a movie stock is IPO'd at $20, it will float according to market forces until its release. Let's say that at that point, it is priced at $50. It will be halted on Friday -- you can't buy or sell it any more. Then, let's say it earns $25 million over the weekend. On Sunday, it will adjust to $25 million *2.9 = $72.5 million, and you will earn $22.5 per share if you are holding it long. The stock's price will then resume floating according to market forces.

Second, four weeks after a movie opens in wide release or 12 weeks after it opens in limited release (less than 650 screens), it will be delisted at a price equal to its box office take to date. Let's say our stock from the last hypothetical has moved down to $60 by week 4 -- people have sold it to pinvest in other things. At the end of four weeks, the movie has grossed $57. The movie will delist at $57, and you will lose $3 per share if you are holding it long.

Shrek 3 is falling again, it must be everyone selling before bedtime...

Jackskeleton 06-14-04 10:12 PM

At this point it's too much to play the shorting/buying game with it. the fee's are costly and the same can be gained elsewhere.

ivelostr2 06-14-04 10:47 PM

What do you guys think the cover will be on Spiderman?

plus one wrong guess as to direction and wham!

I have not looked at Shrek 3 since the first time I sold it early.

I am fixed on next weekend :)

I think it is getting wed + Thurs + weekend *2.5= I would say 120 million weekend and 55 million for the first two days so a 355 adjust.

I am probably low however since it is too expensive for me to even look at I am not really trying to figure it out.

I made some changes due to 4 day weekend.

exactly. and having to pay 50k to get out of it isnt worth it.

I do find it funny that I was really talking up the storm about that IPO and I ended up pretty much gaining nothing out of all of it. :p

oh well, friendly competition is always cool. ;) I would suggest playing the shorting/buying game with the lower items. FH911 is giving me some good cash by following it's constant rise and falls. good stuff good stuff.

solipsta 06-15-04 11:38 AM

Finally hit $4 mil. I'm happy because I climbed back up from my starting weekend loss of $800k to get here. :)

Canis Firebrand 06-15-04 11:39 AM

Doh.. Sold off Shrek 3 too early... I was happy that it got back up to $113 yesterday, so I sold half my shares. At least I kept the other half so I'm still making money, since its at $120.56

Mano 06-15-04 12:59 PM

I felt compelled to share this as this really is the only reason for me being in my current position.

BWSH2 10000 H$10.69 H$118.91 +6.50 H$1,189,100.00 H$1,082,178.20 +1,012%

I'm still not sure how you guys are making all this money. It seems every piddling little move I make turns out to have little to no difference. But oh well, that warrant still makes me happy.

Jackskeleton 06-15-04 01:01 PM

Those warrents are easy money if you know how to play them the potter warrent is just an extremely nice amount of cash in it's short. first it made me a ton going up to the 40's and now it's making me a ton more coming back down. :p

Is the site down? I seem to not be able to login :(

working now.

movieking 06-15-04 02:57 PM

I haven't been able to get in for the last couple of hours. Still can't.

gcribbs 06-15-04 06:33 PM

It has been up and down. Although it is up now.

gcribbs 06-16-04 12:47 AM

Wow! What a week. To stay at the 10 spot you would have to have increased your port over $700,000 -eek-

The first place port increased $3,000,000!!!

This has been a huge week for sure.
