I'd love a remake of CotT - I just hope that not only will the CG will be realistic (thats pretty much a given these days) but that so will the acting - it was so campy back in the days of the original - Id also prefer some no-name types....todays big names are getting so ..... aaack

Kasdan's mighty pen on 'Titans'
By Borys Kit April 16, 2007 Screenwriting hero Lawrence Kasdan has been tapped to pen "Clash of the Titans" for Warner Bros. Pictures. Basil Iwanyk is producing via Thunder Road. A remake of the 1981 cult classic, the story revolves around Zeus' son, Perseus, and his journey to save Princess Andromeda during which he must complete various tasks set out by Zeus, including capturing Pegasus and slaying Medusa. The original marked the final film on which Ray Harryhausen did special effects. Travis Beacham ("Killing on Carnival Row") wrote a draft. Lynn Harris is overseeing for the studio. For Kasdan, "Titans" is his first fantasy-style project since the early 1980s, when he wrote the screenplays for "Return of the Jedi," "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Raiders of the Lost Ark." He has since tended to write, as well as direct and produce, more earthbound fare such as "Mumford" and "Grand Canyon." He next exec produces the upcoming "In the Land of Women," written and directed by son Jon Kasdan, which bows Friday. Kasdan is repped by CAA |
Hell yeah! I'm down for a remake. No James Franco!
|
I love the original, and I'm definately hoping for a remake.
I hope it helps kick off a mythology run of movies. There are a ton of stories there, just waiting to be mined. |
Oh screw the remake. Harryhausen is the dude!
|
There just better be nudity.
Clash was my first memorable glimpse of boobs. |
No crappy Kraken = No Sale!!!!
|
I seriousily doubt the remake will have such a great music score either.
|
This was one of my favorites as a kid. I had all the villain action figures, including the Kraken, which has to be one of the most awesome toys I owned.
I won't mind a remake if they get a decent director. But I'm afraid we'll end up with someone like Stephen Sommers or Paul W.S. Anderson who'll spit out a generic paint-by-numbers blockbuster. |
I had the Pegasus toy, but left if on the car dashboard one summer morning and the rubber wings melted. That was a sad day.
With that, I don't really think the movie needs a remake, but I'd be up for a kick-ass retelling of the basic story. Gods, the Kraken, Pegasus, Perseus - what's not to love? |

^He's been the director for a while now hasn't he?

Re: Clash of the Titans remake..
So aside from Sam Worthington (who's apparently the next big thing in Hollywood thanks to James Cameron), Le Chiffre from Casino Royale, and the chick who got oiled to death in Quantum of Solace, we now have word that Liam Neeson is Zeus and Ralph Fiennes is Hades.
Glad to see that Neeson is rebounding from Natasha Richardson's tragic passing so quickly, and if Fiennes calls his wife "an inanimate fucking object" in this movie, it will be the best movie ever. |
Re: Clash of the Titans remake..
Badass....Neeson and Fiennes...I'd like to see Neeson sport a badass classic Zeus beard...

Re: Clash of the Titans remake..
I'm very curious about this remake... I don't necessarily like the idea of seeing it remade, but if they do it right with a big budget it does have potential.

Re: Clash of the Titans remake..
Neeson and Fiennes are the first good news I've heard about this movie. Is it true that Danny Houston will be in this too?

Re: Clash of the Titans remake..
There is potential for a really good movie here.
But considering the state of modern films, it seems unlikely it will materialize. |
