Aww, his American efforts might have been a bit lacking but he's still the coolest French actor next to Jean Reno.

He is cool because every week i can walk down a foreign movie aisle and find another movie he has been in.

Did he make movies all the time or what?

Why is Angelina Jolie a big star? Among female actors she seems to be near the top of name values. And yet you look at her movies, and it's generally a long list of disappointments and bombs. Sure she did win an Oscar, but so did Marcia Gay Harden, and no ones proclaiming her the second coming.

For all the movies that Jolie did, only 5 have even cleared 20 million, and that includes the following gems: The Bone Collector, Tomb Raider, Tomb Raider 2, Girl Interrupted, and Gone in 60 Seconds. Of those, only Tomb Raider and Gone in 60 seconds can really be considered hits, and her part wasn't even that big in the latter.
It is because she's a model beautiful actress and the son of a famous actor, and she was a tour de force in Girl Interrupted. I'm not saying all the hype is worth it, but the fact she's a pretty face and a wacko to boot gets her plenty of face time.

I think this was to decide whether or not Richard Grieco would become a movie star.

Grieco, that's hilarious. He paid his rent on a storage unit once. Oh what a big star. He walked out and I'm like...that's Richard Grieco.

I agree with Chris Tucker, though his lack of roles is for some reason self imposed. I have NO idea why Tucker hasn't done anything besides Rush Hour since 1998. He could've built his star up...guess he didn't want to.

The weird thing though is that after The Order came out, people everywhere were still saying "he's the next big thing" ?????

Never understood this one.

In Tucker's defense, it doesn't look like he's wanted to really do anything else. When you can pull 20 million to make Rush Hour 2, i'd be pretty content in waiting for Rush Hour 3

Alicia Silvertsone is up there... she signed a fat studio contract after Clueless didn't she? And then she got fat...

Although not TV, I would go with David Caruso after NYPD Blue S1.

I also have to agree with Crispin Glover. Very sad.

Then you obviously missed her winning performance in Turbulence 14. Excellent acting and definately overlooked by the academy. Heh.

Angelina Jolie is a man??? Now that is interesting!

Seriously though, I do get all of what you said. And I certainly don't mind her being famous. I just find it funny that she's such a big name with virtually no box office success. Of course in reality, I don't think an actor or actress really makes much of a difference (except in rare exceptions), but that's just me.

Still, I do find it ironic when people talk about the next big stars in box office (i.e. Resse Witherspoon), when one of the current ones hasn't done anything of major note

He said he'd rather donate his time by helping AIDS victims in South Africa than continuing acting.

The man has a $40 million (!) contract to do Money Talks 2 and Rush Hour 3 for New Line and then he said he'll be done with acting.

I thought we'd be seeing a little more out of Skeet Ulrich.

Not that he was slated to be DiCaprio big, but at one time, I would say the buzz was at least equal to any Heath Ledger expectations.

Nothing in IMDB since 2001 except TV.....

Thandie Newton, too, had a lot of hype and has been pretty quiet.

I think Eric Roberts and Mickey Rourke are excellent answers to this question.

And Richard Grieco! He was thought to be Johnny Depp's rival! Times have changed, and not in his favor. All 3 of the guys I just mentioned (Rourke, Roberts, and Grieco) have faces that have not withstood the tests of time over the last few years either. I think "hard living" may be something that these guys careers (and faces) have in common.

The Austin Powers femmes aren't burning up the screens and living up to their star power....

Heather Graham
Elizabeth Hurley

Love them both though I may!

MONEY TALKS 2?!?
Does anybody even remember the first movie? It wasn't even a hit when it came out.
Money Talks is a little obscure to be making a big budget sequel to. That would be like Angelina Jolie getting 25 mil to make HACKERS 2. A little off topic, sorry.

Psh. Fht. Whatever man.

I'm not going to read this thread. And it was probably already said. If so, please don't beat me till I'm red. But Vin Diesel is already dead. "Riddick" will only put him to bed.
