Uma's joke in Kill Bill 2

Uma tells a joke about two guys in a bar, but other people who saw the movie tell me I imagined the joke, that she doesn't tell a joke......you heard the joke, right?

I don't think she was in much of a humorous mood in this movie!

You're either thinking of her ketchup joke in Pulp Fiction, or Tarantino's bar joke in Desperado.

Yes, but the joke was only in the Japanese cut.

THe only joke I saw/heard in the movie was the script, direction, and acting!

Seriously, I don't remember any joke in there. I do remember her joke in Pulp Fiction, though. I'm gonna agree that this may have been imagined.

okay, maybe I saw a different cut, but here is the joke:
Spoiler:
two guys walk into a bar. one sits down and orders a beer; the other goes to sit, but the floor opens up and he falls into a pit. He's consumed by fire and screams out in horror. But he doesn't call out to the other guy: they weren't that close.

...so nobody remembers this joke??? or maybe you didn't realize it was a joke because of her deadpan delivery??? or is someone suggesting that the Japanese cut played in South Florida??

That joke wasn't in the movie. Maybe you saw it in a different movie?

Don't even say "Japanese cut" or this whole thread will go to hell.

Sorry guy, that joke was in Angel. Wes says it to Ilaryia. I think it was 2 weeks ago. Perhaps 3.

Edit: Here's a google thread where the joke is quoted. It was from the 4/14 episode. It's not exactly as you posted, but close enough:

Two men walk into a bar. The first man orders a scotch and soda. The second man remembers something he'd forgotten and it doubles him over with pain. He falls to the floor, shaking, and then through the floor into the earth. He looks up at the first man but he does not call out to him. They're not that close...
Just more proof that Kill Bill does kill brain cells.

Yeah, that joke was on the television show ANGEL. Wesley is such a damn badass to tell that joke.

You needed to watch the episode and know where the character was coming from to understand that joke. The best part was how it was told. It wasn't something you were supposed to laugh out loud to.

Best part about Angel is not watching it.

On a related note ..... How did cultshock hear The Bride tell the same joke in a Japanese version that was on the tv series Angel?

I blame it on drinking too much cheap sake. That cultshock guy is a friggin' lush and in his alcoholic haze, always gets movies and TV shows mixed up.

I'm so glad this got cleared up, because I was sure that joke sounded familiar. (I just couldn't remember I had seen it on Angel.) I was beginning to fear I was the subject of some mass hallucination.

As if this thread couldn't get more derailed, I just thought I would comment on Lara's observation of Wes being a bad ass. Having never seen the earlier seasons of Buffy or Angel when they were on TV, I'm just finishing up season three of Buffy on DVD. I nearly fell on the floor in hysterics when Wesley's character was introduced. Exactly how did he go from that to such a bad ass on Angel??? Talk about character development!

It wasn't "character development" at all. It was "let's bring back a character we haven't seen for a while and make him the complete opposite of how he was before for a cheap laugh/plot twist/surprise."
