OK, since it seems most people here who wanted to have already seen both, which Volume did you prefer and why? There's no option for "hated them both" since if you didn't like Vol. 1, you wouldn't have bothered to see Vol 2, so we can keep out the threadcraps.

It will be very interesting watching them back to back. 'One' was a sensational action film with a some Tarantino-esque style. 'Two' was like a full-blown Tarantino movie. I was actually very surprised how much closer 'two' was to [Taratino's] reality. It was completely not what I was expecting.

So, I must say "Can't decide".

Absolutely the second half, although the first half is phenomanl. Carradine just owns the second half, reminded me SOOOO much of Henry Fonda is one of my all-time favorite performances/bad guys. Add Madsen + such a wonderful Spaghetti Western feel. The second half all the way.

My opinion would be very much like that of troystiffler if not for the fact that I found the pacing of Vol. 2 way too rushed, except for the wonderful final chapter. That said, Vol. 1 wins but only by a slight margin.

Vol 2. but only by a slim margin. I just liked the overall feel of Vol 2. not to say that I didn't love Vol 1.

I just got done watching both back-to-back for the first time. My current choice is 1. I watched the dvd and got myself extremely pumped from all of the action scenes. But when I went and watched 2 a couple hours later, the lack of action like what I saw with Crazy 88 fight has clouded my opinion of it. 2 has it's strong points, but it didn't deliver a big explosive finale (well, I guess it was explosive in at least one way )like I'd gotten pumped for. I suspect that future viewings might change my opinion, largely thanks to the awesome characters Bill and Mai Pei (sp?). Regardless, the movie as a whole is some of the best I've seen from Tarantino. I daresay I'll grow to love this every bit as much as Pulp Fiction.

I like Volume 1 quite a bit more than Volume 2.

I agree with Mr. Banjo. Right now I like Vol. 1 better. I'm not usually really impressed with action movies, but I absolutely LOVED Vol 1's fight scenes.

But then, I loved the Pei Mai chapter and the fight with Elle.

Maybe once I watch both of them back to back on DVD I'll change my mind.

Volume 1 was style over substance and volume 2 was substance over style. Therefore 2 is the winner.

I have seen Vol. 2 four times theatrically (so far), while I only watch Vol. 1 twice in the theatre. Vol. 2 has got Michael Madsen, a Spaghetti Western feel instead of Kung Fu (I like westerns more), better dialogue and richer characters. I didn't miss the action, because the second film was more psychological as opposed to physical. Finally, I felt much better walking out of the theatre after Volume 2 than I did for Volume 1.

My vote goes to #2. "Face to Face" was the best chapter out of both movies. A perfect ending.

To those that haven't seen KB1 or KB2, I would actually recommend see KB2 first. Otherwise, you have the wrong expectations, which takes away from its enjoyment.

It was only on the second and subsequent viewings of KB2 that I appreciated how much better it is than KB1.

Both good films, but I found V1 better. The action and mix of ammie was great.

Volume 2. The first time I saw it I was a little disappointed in comparison since I had made it a point to avoid reading anything on it so I wouldn't be inadvertantly spoiled. I was hanging on every scene waiting for a kinetic action piece a'la V1 to jump into life that never appeared (though the Elle\Bea fight was as brutal or moreso than anything in Vol. 1). However on subsequent viewings of V2, I settled into the performances, story and Western setting without the anticipation and my appreciation has increased exponentially to the point where I can now say I easily prefer Volume 2, though V1 was already one of my all-time faves. Though Uma got a Golden Globe nom for V1, V2 is where she most definitely deserves more of the recognition. I guess an analogy I can put for it is like Aerosmith opening at a Stones concert.
