Another 80s Comedy classic to be remade...

...this time for an urban audience, going the way of the remake of Can't Buy Me Love - Love Don't Cost a Thing

From EW:

Speaking of 1986 - Back to School! MGM wants to remake the Rodney Dangerfield comedy as a vehicle for Cedric the Entertainner. No Respect!

sounds like a bad idea, but then again I hate Cedric the Entertainer so I may be a bit biased

I'd rather see it star Bernie Mac.

What is this... the year of the remake but with the African American twist?

Airplane = Soul Plane
Vacation = Johnson Family Vacation

I'd hardly call that movie a comedy classic

here's what i don't get...shouldn't you have to be remotely entertaining to bear the moniker "Cedric the Entertainer?" He has yet to entertain me in the slightest way. However, he is incredibly annoying. Therefore i nominate that he be renamed "Cedric the unfunny annoyer."

I agree that this might be funny if Bernie Mac were starring instead.

Airplane = Soul Plane
I wouldn't call Soul Plane a remake of Airplane. Airplane was a parody of all the Airport films, Soul Plane is just about an airline ran by a bunch of black people.

I agree.

And I can't wait for the remake of Weird Science called Let's Make Us a Hot White Bitch.

Soon there will be remakes of remakes. I can see it now:

"The Wiz '05" starring
- Usher as the Scarecrow (let's face it, he's trying to be this generation's Michael Jackson, so who else?)
- P. Diddy (maybe I shouldn't give him any ideas...he just might do it) as the Tin Man
- Some way-too-old black actress to play Dorothy
- Patti LaBelle as Glinda the Good Witch
- Chris Rock as The Wiz (same age now as Pryor was in '78)

I also think Dave Chappelle should be involved, but I'm not sure who he could play.
Or, maybe they'll do a white version of "The Wiz" I swear, people, if you think Hollywood is running out of ideas now, imagine how things will be in 15-20 years.

They need to remake Zapped!! There is a serious lacking of T&A in movies today.
