Comic books that would make cool movies

I always thought Top Ten had an interesting concept. I don't know if anyone has read it but basically superheroes have their on city and police force. Its a good one. Also Codename: Knockout could be a funny movie if given the right diretion and script.

I'd like to see a Sandman or Death movie.

Y the Last Man would make a pretty cool film...

I'm a sucker for anything post-apocolyptic (in this case, a matter of opinion) and any sort of "last man on earth" story; but I think Y would have broad appeal. Pardon the pun.

They may have to cut out a few plot elements; comics move a little faster than movies... but I'd watch it!

Preacher has been in development hell for years. I'm not sure how well it would translate to the screen, but it could be fun.

There's a great comic barely anyone has ever heard of called The Griffin -- it's about a normal human who gets abducted by aliens and given superpowers to fight in an alien war. 20 years later he goes AWOL and comes back to Earth. The comic is about 1) him trying to reconnect with his family after disappearing for 20 years, and 2) the aliens trying to get him to come back.

Alien Legion is basically the French Foreign Legion with aliens. It's supposedly being developed as an animated TV series, but I would have rather seen it as a big-budget summer tentpole movie.

I liked reading the Griffin although I never did finish it.

I almost forgot -- almost anything Alan Moore has written would make a great movie, but particularly Promethea, Tom Strong, Halo Jones, D.R. & Quinch, and Skizz.

Oh YEAH!

(Didja know that at least one issue of the Kool-Aid Man comic was written by Kurt Busiek?)

Great choice!

I also think that Straczynski's "Rising Stars" could make a good movie. It has been optioned, but it seems to be caught up in a bit of a mess right now.

I think that Sam Raimi has optioned "30 Days Of Nights", and I think that, if it ever happens, could turn out better than the comic. (Then again, I wasn't as impressed by the comic as others were.)

I don't think that "Sandman" could be successfully adapted, but the first Death miniseries could work as a smaller film. (I believe that Neil Gaiman is trying to do this.)

"Hellblazer" could be good, but everything I've read leads me to believe that it will be just awful.

And then, of course, there's the greatest comic book hero ever....THE RED BEE!!!!

I think the casting for Hellblazer AKA Constantine is all wrong. Keanu Reeves I do not like. I could have seen someone like Tim Roth or Jude Law pull it off though. Alan Moore doesn't want his name associated with the project according the aintitcoolnews

I read the first Losers graphic novel over the weekend, that would make a great action movie.

To make matters worse, from what I've heard, the character of Constantine will be a New York cop who investigates the supernatural and occult.

On the bright side, at least we won't have to suffer through Keanu trying to pull off a British accent.

My cousin did stunts in Constantine and he said Keanu did a good job. We'll see though.

I think Groo: The Wanderer would make a kickass action comedy.

OK seriously, I'd love to see a Kabuki movie. Dave Mack is cool.

Okay, I was going to jokingly say "Lady Death" and then put in a bunch of and smilies, but, as I was searching for a good cover image, I stumbled upon this: http://www.ladydeaththemovie.com/! It's not live action, but it could be pretty cool. Has anyone else heard anything about this?

As for the comic that I was really going to pick, it would be Ghost Rider. A well done live action version of this would be awesome.

I also agree with tofu that Sandman would be cool.
