Surfing scene in Escape From L.A.
This might have been intentional as an homage to the fake effects of the Frankie Avalon surf films....Or at least I hope it is!

Still doesn't change the fact that Reloaded had some of the best examples of CG human animation in film.

Other movies guilty of bad effects:
Matrix Reloaded
Matrix Revolutions (though for CGI humans it was pretty damn good)
Blade (at the end when Steven Dorff's character explodes)
Tron (1982 you say? Well nevermind then)

Well they ceratinly did a very fine job but to me it just looks slightly off. Something in the definition of Keanu's outline, it just looks too fuzzy to me.

Lotr- ttt. When Frodo and sam are in that cave with a waterfall backdrop. Its the first scene, and the blue screen work is really sloppy. I swear you can see blue fuss outline around them.

The videos at the bottom of this page http://www.uemedia.net/CPC/vfxpro/article_7062.shtml really show just how amazing the CG humans were. They really captured the nuances and idiosyncrasies of human facial movement.
The sequels also had some of the best composite work I've ever seen. Everything was composited almost flawlessly. The one shot of Morpheus slashing the Escalade is just flawless.

hahaha I remember those fire/electricution scenes from the Dead Hate the Living. They do look bad, but as you mentioned, the best they could do with their budget.
Some of the flying scenes in superman 4 are horrible. Then again that movie is just horrible!

I just watched Gothika last night. There are a couple scenes where characters catch on fire. Looked like video game graphics to me.

Needs to contact an admin about multiple accounts
in HELLBOY when hb crushes the can of red bull with his huge right hand. not sure why it even needed to be cg. looked cartoonish compared to rick baker's make-up effects.

People give Godzilla 98 crap for not being a great movie howeve, the sfx were better than the vast majority of Toho's G movies. Don't get me wrong. Toho's G movies are great for what they are but at this point even their CGI seems 5 years behind American movies.
Bad:
Toho Godzilla 2000... when G roars and CGI glass breaks When G stomps the tunnel and it's clearly a rubber foot with no articulation.
Good:
U.S. Godzilla 98... G coming out of the water and stepping over the bridge. G walking past buidlings and his tail destroying buildings in it's wake.

The Most egregious ones I can think of:
-the entirety of the African Queen, where you can go through a dozen shots with no continuity of background, lighting, or film stock several times in the film and the worst process shots I ever saw
-Back to the Future, lots of great shots, but the one where Marty and Doc "straddle" the flame simply defies physics as the blue screen makes it look as if they stand on top of it.
-Temple of Doom, too many to mention in this one, from the minatures in the mining cart chase to the similar blue screen from Back to the Future where they seem to stand on rushing water.

I'm just going to say every single movie that features a CG shot because they're all eventually going to get listed.

Blade's finale effects were just repulsive. I really couldn't believe how bad it looked.

Pretty much every scene of Clash of the Titans. I remember loving it when I was a kid, then I watched it again a couple years ago and I had to laugh at how fake the entire movie looks. Its still a good movie, but you just have to laugh at the effects.

sort of off the topic,
although definatly not the worst I thought Gollum in the Two Towers looked like he was pasted on whenever he shared the same scene with the Hobbits. They greatly improved on it in Return Of the King .
Probaly one of the worst ever was in Superman 4 when Supes and Lois were flying. When I was a kid I didn't notice it but years later I wanted to gouge my eyes out.
