I don't see any of the existing movies beating Passion this next weekend.

Even with the easter holiday. It bearly beat out The Prince and Me.
Easter brings about it Spring break for different areas so you will see a lot of the pg films get a boost.
This weeks new releases are a few and even if they make just enough, Passions would be pushed down for the fresher items.
The Alamo
Ella Enchanted
The Girl Next Door
Johnson Family Vacation
The Whole Ten Yards
The United States of Leland gets a wider push in the indie market
The Alamo and Girl next door are two titles that have been pushed back for a while so the aduaince has had the chance to get more then enough advertisment for them. Johnson family Vaction has two big name stars which will attract some attention. Ella Enchanted will get the younger girls and you still have this past weeks releases that will trickle down to second viewings. Hellboy will still be in the top five as well as Home on the range which should get some decent feedback and draw a crowd to see.
Besides, Easter is a day for families and church. You wont get the numbers going to see this as some claim.

C'mon.. They'll hold church at the movie theater and give sermons about the Passion of the Christ this weekend.

If you take out the church groups that have saw The Passion, then how much will it have made? $100 million? And some of these church groups, who say that going to movies is a sin, etc, will go watch this....just a tad hypocritical. It's still just a movie. This movie is constant violence, no matter what the message is. Probably has more violence than any other R rated movie ever made.
And BTW......The Passion ain't catchin' TITANIC. To all the haters out there, TITANIC ain't fallin to Mel. Sorry.........not happenin'. And while we're on the subject, it ain't catchin Spider-Man and it sure ain't toppin Star Wars.

I'm not trying to bring down Passions, argue it's merits or destroy Mel's character as a hebrew hater. I'm trying to instill some reality on those who claim the easter holiday will bring passions back to #1.
It took a 22% drop since last week. That is a nice slow decline in sales. Very successful run. It was very close of being 6th this week with a childerns film. With the easter holidays it will be more difficult to keep up with those childern films daily average as studios market films to meet that two week window where the kids are on break from school.
Being realistic with the amount of new films breaking out this week combined with the current films on the top five, Passions place will still be on the top ten, just not on the top five.

I'm quite impressed with what Mel has accomplished here, and though I don't prescribe to the beliefs in the film, I admire the passion that obviously went into this project.
Nonetheless, I'd like to see Hellboy do well. I liked the movie, I thought it was choppy...but the characters I quite enjoyed and hope to see another round. Hopefully it holds up well, though I can't see it topping 100 mil with that opening.

Hellboy is no Hulk. the amount Universal put into that film and lost isn't anywhere close to the situation with Revolutions and Hellboy. Hellboy currently is much more successful than expected.

^ Probably. Now that you said that though we are gonna get 15 posts saying why its actually not as good (because "the church" MADE people go see it and used their evil powers to conjur spirits and all that)
