The Riddick movie coming up with Vin looks pretty good though.

The Rock, hands down.
Diesel is too boring and too serious to be in the same league as Arnold. The rest are more diverse actors. |

I don't think any of those actors can replace Arnold. They may have their own followers but they don't come even close to Arnold.

Originally posted by Terrell Well, the Rock sucks. So not him. Rundown bombed and now Walking Tall looks like it's headed for bomb city as well, unless it has some serious legs. So he won't see one tenth the success Arnold did. His starring roles are going to dry up because none of his movies have really been successful. Scorpion King was decent, but by no means hugely successful. I just don't think the general movie-going public wants to see a movie with a wrestler as the main star. Only wrestling fans and Rock fans are interested. Hugh Jackman is the best out of all of those, but he's not just an action star. I'd have to say nobody on that list. Vin Diesel's 15 minutes of fame are almost up. I'm still trying to figure out how he got 15 minutes of fame to begin with. Here is a listing of Arnolds major movies. You say The Rock won't have a 10th of the success Arnold had at the box office based on the performances of Scorpian King, Rundown, and Walking Tall, but Arnold did not really have a major success until Total Recall and Twins. They were released 8 years and 6 years into his major film carear. Now, in hindsight, Terminator, Commando, Conan, Running Man, and Predator, are hits, but at the time they did not do very well at the box office. In 22 years Arnold has only had 7 100 million dollar movies, which is alot, but I think most people assume he has had alot more. Vin Diesel will be the next Arnold. Hugh Jackman will be the next Harrison Ford. The Rock will be the next Van Damme.

Predator would be about $115 million, etc. |
Arnold all but passed the torch to The Rock in The Rundown when he passed by him in a split-second cameo and said "Have a good time." It was a nice moment from one action hero to another.

I'm gonna go with The Rock on this one.
|
The Rock.
Did anyone see the E! story on The Rock? I guess Arnold was on the set of The Rundown for some reason, and they asked if he would like to be in a scene - he agreed. So in the very beginning, The Rock passes Arnold in the nightclub and Arnold says "have fun". Some saw it as Arnold passing The Rock the torch. Thank you, The Pebble EDIT: Just read jough's post only 2 before mine! |
It pains me, but I have to say "The Rock" for two reasons.
1. I finally saw "The Rundown" out of boredom the other day and I realized that it was actually pretty good for a popcorn flick. Rock has screen presence, the action moves, and most importantly as a "Arnold replacement" comedic timing. Let's face it, Arnold would have been just another muscle man if he didn't give that funny spark he lent to almost every one of his roles. 2. Rock is BIG. There have been plenty of action stars, each with there own gimmick. The reason people watch Arnold was to see a really BIG guy kick the shit out of people and places. The Rock is the only one who has that potential. If you were talking about replacing Sly or Van Dam I may think of someone else. |
